It seems to happen every time, but UFC fans continue to fall for the same fall. When a fighting card like last weekend’s Apex event between Roman Dolidze and Anthony Hernandez Underwhelming appears, it somehow delivers insanely entertaining, albeit not exactly at high level, mixed martial arts. UFC Vegas 109 was no exception, with various hunters who deliver particularly impressive performance on the main map.
The following matchups for Saturday’s victors are some major fights, especially for the winner of the main event.
Next matchups: Christian Leroy Duncan vs. Marc-Andre Barriault
“CLD” added a characteristic victory to his central heating and added to an already excellent UFC record by eliminating Eryk in the first round. The promotion would do well to build Duncan as a legitimate prospect in the middleweight by linking it to another parent veteran in the next matchups booked, especially because the Brit has struggled when he has had the opportunity to take a step in competition.
Barriault has yielded a show in a loss Shara MagomedovBut it is difficult to see him as the only danger for the younger, larger, faster Duncan. Moreover, the UFC has shown the willingness to feed Barriault on the wolves in the past, which suits Joe Pyfer and Magomedov, two fights in which the Canadian was a heavy underdog. Perhaps another matchup in Vancouver Barriault could seduce to accept a difficult fight.
Next matchups: Jean Matsumoto vs. Cody Garbrandt
The coming trip from Matsumoto to the Octagon must be carefully transferred by UFC CEO Dana White. The 25-year-old has all the start of a future champion: fantastic, dynamic striking, a black belt in Jiu-Jitsu and usable, steadily improving Takedown defense. Each of those skills could be seen in Matsum photos Razor-Close victory against Miles Johns, and should promote the perception of the Brazilian as a future competition at 135.
Even for a future competition, a slow build is the right step here with regard to the following matchups. Matsumoto is young, and Johns and a close loss of decision to have proven font Rob that he is not yet ready for the top. Enter Cody Garbrandt. A big name with a CV championship, a Garbrandt -Matchup could fulfill two purposes: pulling big names to Matsumoto and testing it with a former champion. Book it on the preliminary rounds of an end-of-year spay-per-view.
Next matchups: Andre Fili vs. Nate Landwehr
Somehow these two have not yet fought. Fili continued his win-one, loss-one pattern with a nice fight against Christian Rodriguez, which again proved his ability to please a crowd. The use of him as a gatekeeper is an option, but fans prefer the following matchups that do more than promote a name. A fight with Landwehr, another man who is no stranger to a knock-down, drag-out affair, will certainly pull the eyes that the UFC wants. This is another that should land on the PPV of November or December.
Next matchups: Iasmin Lucindo vs. Mackenzie Dern
Lucindo is now 5-2 in the UFC and prepared for a push to the top in a fairly thin division with strict weight. One of the women who defeated her, Amanda Lemos, also defeated Dern, and booked with the rest of the top dogs at 115, this is the best option. Lucindo would enter the fight as a substantial favorite and continue the process to the top that the UFC undoubtedly has for her in mind in a division that quickly gets old.
Next matchups: Steve Erceg vs. Andre Lima
What an enigma erceg has turned out to be. The Aussie has given the best flying weights in the world, everything they can handle, but the three-fighter losing streak erceg finally to whiners Last weekend speaks for itself. There is a path to the top for him, but it is a tough, meticulous, that would be Erceg who will defend its ranking at flying weight next time.
Useful andre Lima is too late for a shot in the top 15 after achieving four victories in the UFC, and the recent history of Erceg leaves much to be desired. Lima also presents a very profitable fight for ERCEG, and a chance to build some confidence before a serious push -up the ladder starts a second time.
Next matchups: Anthony Hernandez vs. Reinier de Ridder
There are various potential following matchups for Hernandez after his main event that Dolidze has achieved. A meeting with Israel Adesanya is certainly on the table, but that feels like a complete bad service for the former champion, one that would probably end in a one -sided strangulation for Hernandez. Instead, a grapple extravaganza offers a fast pace against De Ridder, ridiculous clambering and a way to bring legitimate title implications for the new generation of middle weights.
Although some have the feeling that RDR earns a title shot after his victory over Robert Whittaker, a different victory will be in order after the journey from the UFC to Paris has been completed. Nassourdine Imavov and Caio Borralho will appear for the right to challenge the title in Paris, so that De Ridder and Hernandez penetrate the command structure. A headline place at the end of the year, or early 2026, both men would fit perfectly if they try to achieve a date with the champion.
