Newcastle United CEO David Hopkinson has ordered 500 club staff to work full-time at their workplace.
In an exclusive, The Times says the United boss has now prevented staff from working from home.
The new report says this follows a 100-day review of the way the club operates.
The Times says that currently around 250 of Newcastle United’s 500 staff have the option to work from home for up to two days a week.
Newcastle United’s CEO and other senior staff said they believe this hangover from the post-Covid era should now be seen as a thing of the past for employees of the football club.
The times say that under David Hopkinson: ‘There is a desire for a cultural change which, Newcastle bosses hope, can be achieved by having the entire workforce on site at all times. They believe this will make staff more driven to further develop their careers.’
They report that the club has started implementing the new policy and that it will be in full effect by early March 2026.
The Times adds that: ‘A former bar area in St James’ Park has been converted into additional office space for those working in the commercial side of the club and where the ticket office is now located. The club regularly advertises for new staff as they look to increase revenues to compete with the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United.”
