Sebastien Pocognoli could no longer be impressed by Newcastle United.
The Union Saint-Gilloise manager speaks after the 4-0 defeat on Wednesday evening.
Sebastien Pocognoli admits; “Newcastle United was just at a different level.”
Being apart at home in a Champions League match is never easy to take.
However, the Union SG boss was very impressed by how Newcastle United led itself in all respects, stated; “Maybe the opponent can sometimes be condescending, to look down on you, Newcastle United didn’t do that. They paid us full respect.”
Union Saint-Gilloise Manager Sebastien Pocognoli after losing 4-0 at home from Newcastle United:
‘I am proud of my team.
“They fought and even 3-0 down they did not give up.
“Newcastle United was just at a different level.
“We managed to threaten and we played our own game.
“We just lacked efficiency, but one thing we have now is more experience, and that is something that will help us get ahead.
“Maybe the opponent can sometimes be condescending to look down on you, Newcastle United didn’t.
“They paid us full respect.
“They played a big match with their skills and qualities.
“They played top level, all Newcastle players played top level, so it shows that they had a lot of respect for us.
“There are more large teams to be found in the Champions League and everyone will bring their own strengths and tactics.
“All we can do is concentrate ourselves on ourselves and improve our own game.”
