“Jacob Murphy is extremely underrated.
“He’s been so good for Newcastle over the years and how often does someone give double figures in a season and you hardly hear anything about it?
“He reminds me a lot of my old teammate Marc Albrighton.
“He delivers the ball perfectly and that’s why he gets so many assists.
“But he is also a calm player, he does good work and continues to play football.
“Jacob Murphy isn’t flashy, so he’ll always be underrated, but it’s always great to have those kind of players in your side.
“Marc was crucial to the Leicester team when we won the Premier League.”
My thoughts
The statistics don’t lie, as Danny Simpson points out: Jacob Murphy provided twelve assists in the Premier League last season, many of them for Alexander Isak.
In 35 starts (and four sub appearances) in the Premier League and Carabao Cup last season, Murphy scored nine goals and had 14 assists.
This season, across eight starts (and five sub-appearances) in the Champions League and Premier League, Jacob Murphy has scored two goals and registered three assists.
