Newcastle United star Nick Pope has had his contract extended.
The goalkeeper signed a four-year contract when he moved from Burnley to St James’ Park in June 2022 (see below).
Another astonishing transfer success from Eddie Howe as the England international was signed for just £10 million after Burnley were relegated.
That four-year contract was to expire on June 30, 2026, but has now been extended by one year to June 30, 2027.
Air sports reporting the one-year extension as exclusive.
Newcastle United are in a very strong position as two England internationals battle it out for the first-choice goalkeeper. Aaron Ramsdale did well in his only appearance so far, the 4-1 win over Bradford in the Carabao Cup, but Nick Pope has been in excellent form, with six clean sheets in his nine appearances, including five in seven in the Premier League.
Pope is currently 33 years old and will turn 35 in April 2027, prior to his new scheduled contract exit.

Now 30, it’s no surprise that Nick Pope is desperate to stay in the top flight. While he didn’t start for England until March 2022, when he kept a clean sheet in the 3-0 win over Ivory Coast.
