Newcastle United’s position contracts.
Interesting to watch now that Ross Wilson has been announced.
The club finally has a sporting director from Newcastle United.
It was officially confirmed on Saturday that United and Nottingham Forest had reached an agreement for Ross Wilson’s move to St James’ Park.
What Newcastle United’s contract situation currently looks like (via official club releases and media reports), when current deals are in place:
End of June 2026:
Schar, Targett, Pope, Ashby, Trippier, Krafth, Lascelles, Ramsdale
End of June 2027:
Botman, Burn, Jacob Murphy, Willock
End of June 2028:
Tonali, Barnes, Livramento, Bruno, Miley, Joelinton, Alex Murphy
End of June 2029:
Hall, Gordon, Wars, Thiaw
End of June 2030:
Field
End of June 2031:
Woltemade
So what will Ross Wilson’s priorities be when it comes to Newcastle United’s contracts?
Unless United have an extra season option that can be activated for one or more players, you would imagine that Nick Pope is a pressing option as his contract expires at the end of June 2026. While another year for Kieran Trippier would probably be the plan, if he is ready for it.
Sven Botman and Sandro Tonali will of course see Newcastle United move to extend their current deals in the coming months.
Overall though, a very healthy situation, especially as an excellent job has been done over the past year in moving away a number of players who no longer had a future at the club.
