On Monday, Sky Sports (see below) reported that Newcastle United was talking to Burnley for the sale of Martin Dubravka.
Because Eddie Howe Aaron Ramsdale has added to Nick Pope, the Slovakia International pushed to the third choice.
Martin Dubravka had been in the last six months of his contract in January 2025 when he convinced to extend it until 30 June 2026 with a large wage increase. At that time, Nick Pope went out of injured and Dubravka went to the Saudi Pro League.
However, with James Trafford who had recently moved to Manchester City, Burnley left to need another keeper.
Now on Wednesday afternoon, Sky Sports reports an update, which states that Burnley has agreed a permanent deal with Newcastle United for the transfer of Martin Dubravka.
The broadcaster that says that Dubravka today has its medical medical medical medical media before completing the move.
The Mag Report – August 4, 2025:
Sky Sports report that Martin Dubravka Newcastle United will leave for a Premier League rival.
Dharmesh Sheth State that Newcastle United is in conversation with Burnley with regard to the 36 -year -old keeper.
Sky Sports says that conversations are progressing and that Martin Dubravka is the primary target for Burnley.
Sassive irony of course, because Newcastle United James Trafford had tried to sign, only for Manchester City to buy him, which led to the need for Martin Dubravka (or another replacement for Trafford).
Martin Dubravka would move to the Saudi Pro League in January, but was persuaded to stay because Nick Pope was injured.
The Slovak keeper’s contract would end on June 30, 2025, but in January a year was added, as well as an increase in wages for the Slovak keeper.
Writing was on the wall with Aaron Ramsdale who had arrived, plus Martin Dubravka who did not participate in the Tour Far East. The keeper only played for 45 minutes at Celtic in the friendly games for the season and when he did not travel to Singapore, Eddie Howe said that the plan was that Dubrabvka would join them in South Korea. That never happened and it seems clear that Martin Dubravka will remain in the UK with a step elsewhere.
Quite bizarre, many journalists and Newcastle fans came to the conclusion that as/when a goalkeeper was signed this summer, Nick Pope would be the one who continued. Why would anyone have thought on earth that with such a massive season in no way, in no way that Eddie Howe had lost his existing first Choice -keeper.
Martin Dubravka has been a great servant of Newcastle United for the past seven and a half years and will hopefully get the first team football, assuming he will continue. In the meantime, Newcastle united in a strong position with keepers, with England Internationals Aaron Ramsdale and Nick Pope compete for the shirt.
