Hockey New Zealand is proud to announce that Vantage Black Sticks women’s goalkeeper Grace O’Hanlon has been nominated for the FIH Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year at the 2025 FIH Hockey Stars Awards.
Grace’s nomination places her alongside the world’s elite, with Anne Veenendaal (Netherlands) and Liu Ping (China) also shortlisted for the prestigious global award. The nomination follows an excellent year for Grace, who recently won both Player of the Year and Player of the Year honors at the Vantage Black Sticks Annual Awards.
Her performances at the FIH Nations Cup and Oceania Cup were world class, performing consistently under pressure and leading New Zealand to success in successive shootout finals. Known for her calm presence, leadership and unparalleled ability to stop shots, Grace has set a new benchmark for goalkeeping excellence, inspiring teammates and fans alike.
“This recognition is an incredible achievement for Grace and a reflection of her world-class consistency, professionalism and passion for the Black Sticks,” said Phil Burrows. “We encourage our entire hockey community to get behind her and show the world the power of New Zealand hockey.”
The FIH Hockey Stars Awards are the highest individual honors in the sport and reward players who have achieved exceptional performances in all major international competitions, including the FIH Pro League, Continental Championships and FIH Nations Cups.
