Are Artemi Panarin and Vincent Trocheck on their way from New York?
During an appearance on SiriusXM NHL Network Radio, The Fourth Period’s Dave Pagnotta and Dennis Bernstein joined Steve Kouleas to discuss where things stand with Artemi Panarin and the New York Rangers. Pagnotta also hinted that teams have made calls about Vincent Trocheck.

Steve Kouleas: “The whole East. This is great. It’s so much fun, unless maybe you’re the Rangers. OK? Mike brought up Chris Drury, wow. I don’t know what’s happening or not happening. Jeff Gorton has done a good job in Montreal, rebuilding the Habs, right?”
Dave Pagnotta: “Yeah, pretty good.”
NHL Injuries: Bruins, Blackhawks, Wild, Kraken, Blues, Lightning, Leafs and more
Kouleas: “That worked out pretty well. The youngest team. Teams that have said afterwards that this is the fastest team in the league, maybe anywhere, like every player. How good have the Habs looked this season. What’s going on with the Rangers? Despite last night’s 8-4 debacle?”
Pagnotta: “Yeah, I don’t know if the Drury discussion topic, whatever, is going to happen now. I think this is a post-season thing, which completely leads me to believe, and I think James Dolan has acknowledged this as well, that they’re going to be patient. Whatever that is in his definition. And Drury is the guy who has to deal with this.”
They want to find out what’s going on with Artemi Panarin. Can they sign him to a contract that is favorable, and as far as I’m concerned, a contract of about three years?’
Dennis Bernstein: “Yes, it’s more about the term.”
Bread: “Right DB.”
Kouleas: “How many? 12?”
Pagnotta: “It will be in and around what he makes now. It will be like this.”
Kouleas: “He earns $11.64 million”
Bernstein: “It can’t be much more. It can’t be the (Kirill) Kaprizov number.”
Pagnotta: “No. So no, not even if he hits the open market. But if they realize they can’t sign him, I think they’ll try to move him. What I’ve heard in the last few days, I would say within the last 24 hours, what’s interesting is that teams are starting to scramble every time. Everybody’s starting to rush in, right?”
NHL Rumors: The New York Rangers should trade Artemi Panarin
Kouleas: “Yes, yes.”
Pagnotta: “Teams have been asking about Vinnie Trocheck.”
Kouleas: “Oh!!”
Pagnotta: “He has a limited no-trade. I don’t remember what his trade list parameter is, but he has some no-trade protection. He still has a few years left on his contract. That doesn’t mean they’re going to do it, but teams are in the process of having conversations about Vinnie Trocheck right now. I’ve heard at least one Western Conference team is sniffing around there.”
NHL Rumors.com Note: With the central market currently in short supply, Trocheck would be a valuable piece on the trade market if he were made available. Several teams would be interested in adding his services given his cap hit for this year and the two seasons after that. But the New York Rangers now have to decide that everyone is available. Again, Panarin has a choice as to where he wants to go, but since he’s not going to sign, it’s best to move him.
