If the mets keep blowing, they will blow the entire season, they blow the entire season.
The loss of 11-9 from Friday evening for the Mariners on Citi Field contained another copy of the Mets inability to protect a lead in a month that was full of them. It was also not only once, but twice in this high scoring affair in rinsing.
The bullpen of the non-ZO-Amazin has blown 11 leads in seven consecutive games.
This is only the second time in the last 17 years that the Mets have coughed up a lead in seven consecutive games. The last time they had a piece like this was when they washed a lead in eight consecutive games in a Lost 2023 campaign.
“In short, we have to start playing better,” said Carlos Mendoza manager after the game. “Especially if you are in charge, we have to be able to close those games. And again, too much talent there. You are talking about 6-7 boys who have a closing experience and are able to get the last three from a game … They are now going through it and as if I keep saying, our job is to get it back.”
After losing their lead of one run on the two-run Homer of Cal Raleigh in the second deck in the left field in the third inning, the Meltdown of the Mets came to Cue in the seventh inning. The two-run lead that they had built in the fourth may have fallen to one, 6-5, which entered the seventh, but the Mets have not been able to hold on lately, regardless of the size.
Ryan Helsley, fresh from losing an eighth inning lead in Thursday’s loss against the Braves, was only confronted with three batters when the Mariners struck two doubles to bind the game to 6-6.
The Mets eventually hoped out of the seventh inning at the back of 10-6.

So why did this continue to happen?
“We all asked that question,” said Francisco Lindor. āIt is difficult to point out one thing, you know? We all try to win ball games. The only thing I can now think is that we don’t click at the same time, and the other team is exceeding us. Mendy is right, we have a lot of talent. We have many good people here.
“We have a tough rack, we don’t have a terrible season. Everyone has the feeling of urgency to try to get out of it. Somehow we are not at the top of the day or another.”
