For the time being, Forest Ridge is opening a new dome with two covered tennis courts and four pickleball jobs that go with the existing illuminated outdoor facilities of the club with six tennis courts that also stand for Pickleball.

The new indoor, climate -driven dome is designed to attract new members and to develop the best racquet club in the region. When fully completed, the club in Forest Ridge plans to have the most sought after racket facilities in the area.

“We are aimed at making our racquets program one of the most important programs in the region,” said Dave Carlisle, general manager of the club. “By building this new facility in phases, I think we will grow our membership and give them a place where they can really be proud to call home.”

The club, which serves both private membership and daily factors, offers a resort style community that is owned by Joe Robson. The development of a thousand hectares, with its green spaces and recreation, was recently named the “Top 100 Places to Retire” list through which he had to retire the magazine. The golf course designed by Randy Heckenkemper, which is 7,110 meters par 72, was first opened in 1989. The Ridge Club, the hub of all social and athletic facilities for the club, opened in 2019.

Planning to further develop the Racquet -Sportspaviljoen in one day, his designs for a new tennis prize, changing rooms and fitness center and are placed on the drawing table without a specific timeline.

In addition to the added courts, a large part of the new and improved Racquet sports program is the new employees that have been brought on board. The club hired one of the best tennis spirits about a year and a half ago in the area when it called Ben Lott, a former division I tennis player and coach at Drake University, as director of Racquet Sports. In turn, Lott, who has been living in the Tulsa area for a number of years (he graduated assistant -coach for the men’s team at the University of Tulsa), recently hired James Moore as head of Pickleball professional. Together, with the addition of the new facilities, they build both sports in the club in Forest Ridge.

“It grows and it grows rapidly,” said Lott, originally from Newcastle, England.

Although both pickleball and tennis are racquet sports, there are differences in the culture of both sports. The club is strongly present in the competitions of the United States Tennis Association (USTA) with numerous men’s, women’s and mixed teams that compete. Lott also has countless exercises for players of different levels.

Pickleball can be a bit more casual and is an easier entry for members who have no experience in both sport. It is also more casual in terms of planning – you can often just show up and get into a game – but there are rules and techniques to be learned, where Moore comes in.

In both cases, the addition of the new facilities will be a game check, Lott said.

“The biggest difference that the indoor facility will make is that the Forest Ridge turns into a program throughout the year. Earlier we had to close from December to February,” Lott said, adding that high temperatures in the summer are no longer a deterrent for participation. “Now we have consistency all year round. That will make a huge difference.”

Another draw is the fact that the dome has a lot of perimeter space around the courts. And the pickleball and tennis courts are on either side with a sitting area between the two.

High -level players will want to play on our courts, “said Lott.

If it is all said and done, Forest Ridge could be out of tennis courts and four indoor tennis courts, as well as eight indoor pickleball jobs.

The club in Forest Ridge makes facilities in resort style accessible within a close, inviting community atmosphere. In the meantime, the quiet natural setting of the residential enclave of Forest Ridge, with houses has been built by many of the top builders of Oklahoma, a trail system of 10 miles, private lakes and unspoilt parks, along with access to golf and dining.

The building was recognized in the Golfer’s Choice Awards of GolfPass (a Division of Golf Channel, the Golf Pass Golfer’s Choice Awards are the highlight of more than 300,000 readers’ voices). The club in Forest Ridge was selected as “Top 25 Off Course facilities”. The residential development of Forest Ridge was voted in the “best subdivision” in the Tulsa Parade of Homes of 2019-2024 and “Best Residential Development” by Tulsa World in the 2019 “Best in the World” match.
