Pereira has been appointed as Forest’s new head coach following the sacking of Sean Dyche. He inherits a Forest side that sits 17th in the Premier League and just three points above the drop zone.
Pereira has become Forest’s fourth regular season manager, a new Premier League record in a single season. He reunites with Evangelos Marinkais after working with the Greek owner at Olympiakos.
When asked what impact he can make, Pereira was keen to temper expectations at the City Ground.
“I can’t change much at this point in the season. What matters is that the players feel comfortable in the roles I demand,” Pereira said.
“It is important that the players feel that they can help the team with their qualities.
“It is important that they express themselves.”
The former Wolves boss was also asked about the message he had for the players. He urged the Forest team to ‘adopt’ his ideas.
“The conversation was about – if you buy the idea, that’s a good step,” he continued.
“If you don’t buy the manager’s idea, it’s a big problem that you have to buy the person. If you buy the idea and the person, you have an open mind to receive information and work hard together.”
