New Brissy crime thriller that investigates family secrets and corrupts power, to be seen in 2027.

The ABC, Screen Australia and Screen Queensland have announced that production will begin Fortitude Valley, a new six-part drama series, led by Hunter Page-Lochard (Reckless, the newsreader) and Kat Stewart (Offspring, black snow).

Set to begin filming in Brisbane in April, Fortitude Valley is a tense crime thriller set in the sunshine and shadows of Queensland’s capital, exploring family secrets, the corrupting power of power and the complicated truths behind the lies we tell.

ABC Head of Scripted, Rachel Okine, said: “We are thrilled to be back in Brisbane and working with such an amazing creative team to Fortitude Valley to the ABC. It is a masterfully plotted crime thriller in which legacy and loyalty are tested to the limit. We can’t wait to share every twist with our audience; they are in for a real treat.”

Moving Floor Entertainment co-founders Leigh McGrath and Stephen M. Irwin (both Harrow, Tidelands, secrets and lies) said: “We’re excited to be filming this new crime thriller we co-created with Hunter Page-Lochard. To be working with our national broadcaster again and filming in our home city of Brisbane – where the show is set – is a privilege. We’re especially proud of the cast and crew we’ve assembled for the series, led by the amazing Hunter Page-Lochard and Kat Stewart.”

Louise Gough, director of narrative content at Screen Australia, said: “Leigh McGrath, Stephen M. Irwin and the team have created an ambitious, distinctive story and with Hunter Page-Lochard and Kat Stewart, Fortitude Valley has all the elements to resonate with both Australian and global audiences. With exceptional creative talent both behind and in front of the camera, production and post in Queensland, this is a story designed to keep viewers on the edge of their seats.”

Screen Queensland CEO Jacqui Feeney said: “This gripping new crime drama from Queensland’s Moving Floor Entertainment showcases the depth of our homegrown talent. Conceived and written against a vibrant backdrop in Brisbane, the series will be filmed and post-produced entirely in Queensland – a powerful testament to the scale, skill and creative energy of our industry. We applaud ABC for supporting bold, locally made stories that connect with audiences here and around the world.”

Fortitude Valley will air in 2027.
