In this episode of Tech Talks Daily I sat down with Joseph Landes, co-founder and main results at Nerdio, to investigate how one conversation at a Microsoft conference led to a cloud automation company of billion dollars. From his 23-year career at Microsoft to building a fully remote team that now supports more than five million users, the story of Joseph combines strategic risks with deep insight into industry.
We worked out how Nerdio grew from a startup idea in 2018 to a company that has just obtained $ 500 million in series C finance. Joseph walked me through the early days of building the company alongside co-founder Vadim Vladimirsky and how they concentrated on simplifying Microsoft Azure for IT professionals and MSPs. Their goal was clear: making cloud management easier, faster and more cost -effective through automation and policy -driven administration.
But this episode was not just about cloud optimization. We have also buried in Nerdio’s fully remote culture and the deliberate design behind it. Joseph shared how initiatives such as appointing mayors, launching the nerdio break cream and organizing an annual worldwide kick -off have contributed to maintaining a strong sense of community and accountability among 350 external employees.
We have also discussed why Nerdio does not compete with Microsoft. It improves and expands Microsoft’s products and helps customers navigate by Azure complexity while staying in accordance with the rapidly changing route map of Microsoft. This customer -oriented strategy, in combination with deep product knowledge and agility, is the key to nerdio’s ability to scale without losing the focus.
Looking ahead, Joseph shared his perspective why AI and Continuous Cost Optimization will form the future of business. He argued strongly for simplifying IT operations, strengthening professionals and converting savings into reinvestment opportunities.
