NBA: Victor Wembanyama goes to a temple in China for a few days

Victor Wembanyama is in China and it’s not just about vacation.

The San Antonio Spurs star is in the midst of what is expected to be a 10-day stay in a Shaolin temple in Zhengzhou, China. The temple is a place that welcomes visitors who want to study Chan meditation, Shaolin Kung Fu, traditional Chinese medicine and more.

The NBA China office confirmed that Wembanyama is in the temple and some Chinese media also confirmed his presence there with the temple itself. “Concentrate on training!” Read a part of a social media post on the Weibo account of the NBA, which has also revealed the plans for a 10-day stay.

On the other hand, the secret was on its way through other social media, means anyway.

Some photos of Wembanyama with a shaved head – it was not shaved when he arrived in China – and wearing a robe similar to the other monks started to circulate wide this week. One of the photos showed the 7-foot-4 center that was on a Chinese chair chair for several Buddha sculptures.

Apparently there was also a sightseeing going on earlier in the trip.

“Victor Wembanyama, live from China, on the big wall itself, with a great time. It’s crazy,” he said on a video posted on Instagram by the Spurs’ account and others.

Wembanyama will be expected in the US in the coming weeks and will probably be with the delegation of the Spurs that will go to the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas next month. Like many teams, the Spurs often have many players in their NBA schedule with the Summer League team for different events.
