Alex Clemmey dominated most of this season in High-A. In his 19 starts at the level, Clemmey posted An ERA of 2.47 with 113 strikeouts in 87.1 innings. Of course he had a walk, but Clemmey was unassailable while he was very young for the competition. That dominance led to a promotion to Double-A where Clemmey received an unusual awakening.
The jump from High-A to Double-A is considered the most difficult in the small competitions. Players are usually older and smarter. You don’t see that many RAW players who miss a plan. These guys are real professionals who are difficult to overwhelm.
Alex Clemmey, who only turned 20 in July, learned this in the hard way. The young person was shot at in his first three Double-A-Starts. He to throw 11.2 Innovations in those three starts and allowing 17 runs. High-a Hitters could not touch Clemmey, but Double-a-Vleer mice placed 21 hits in the first three starts and hit six home runs.
In High-A, Clemmey only allowed four gay people all season. He gave up four in his first double start. After this intestinal punch I was interested in seeing how Clemmey would react. He has never touched this way in his career. When he struggled in the past, it was due to walks.
In his last two starts, however, Clemmey turned the switch. Clemmey has disappeared in those two outings 11.2 Innings And has only allowed three runs earned, allowing seven hits and 13 strikeouts. That is the Alex Clemmey that we are used to seeing. A man who can go on a role and can retire 15 of 16 to put an end.
His last start on Tuesday was Clemmey’s best at the level. He went 5.2 innings, where he only got one earned run and 7 switched while he didn’t walk anyone. Clemmey also received 15 whiffs in this beginning. His fastball was more in the mid -90s, but it can sometimes come in the above 90s. In general, he looked very sharp.
One thing that struck me was that Clemmey started to use his change more often. In the past he had usually been a fastball/slider man. Although he has a 4-seizer and a zinc shed, it is still a shallow pitch mix. Hitters had to worry about the stove or his plus breaking ball. A really third field would go a long way for him.
It is worth noting that Clemmey is so young. Although he was prepared in 2023, he spent a lot of 19 years this season. He was very young for his design class and still has many developmental vales. The stuff is also very exciting.
Clemmey was prepared by the Guardians and came to DC on the market in Lane Thomas. This can be a real steal if Clemmey continues to develop. Nat -fans, however, will have to be patient with Clemmey.
In his beginning we saw AA that he is not only going to cruise through this level. He will start at Double-A next season. If he is successful in Harrisburg, he could be in Triple-A towards the end of next season. However, a call from the main class does not probably come until 2027.
It is a slow combustion, but the wait can be very worthwhile for Alex Clemmey. He has Great time strikeout -Dingen And learn to pitch. I am pleased to follow the development of Clemmey in the coming year or so. He has the talent to be a difference for one day at the main class level.
