Over the past week, motorists who access the Department of Road Transport’s (JPJ) MyJPJ mobile app by entering their 12-digit identification card number (MyKad) and password have found that they can still do so, despite MyDigital ID being announced as the only login method for the app from February 1, 2026.
This is because the deadline for that requirement has been extended to March 1, likely giving those who haven’t registered for it the chance to do so. In November last year, it was reported that around 13 million users have downloaded or registered for the MyJPJ app, and of that figure, 1.3 million users have started using their MyDigital ID to log into the app.
It added that at that time, approximately 11 million users had yet to register for MyDigital ID. There’s no update on registrations, but considering Malaysians’ propensity to deal with these things, you can assume that the percentage of those who are still not registered is probably very high.
If you haven’t already, get started. It’s a simple process to sign up. This only applies to Malaysian users over the age of 18, as both users under that age and MyPR cardholders will continue to use the traditional login method.
