Daniel Ricciardo has officially confirmed that he withdrew from racing after he has been appointed a global Ford Racing ambassador.
The 36-year-old Australian racete last 12 months ago, his last start in Formula 1 came for Racing Bulls in the Singapore Grand Prix. After that race he was in favor of Liam Lawson and did not entertain a move to another team. He had previously tried to earn the chance to join Red Bull again.
While Ricciardo has been largely loved by the spotlight since his last race and had expressed himself to be eligible for a Cadillac F1 chair in 2026, a blog post confirmed as part of his newly announced role with Ford Racing-De Nieuwe Name for Ford Performance Performance that he will not racing in another category in the future.
“While my racing days are behind me, my love for everything with wheels will always stay high, and for that I am proud to work with Ford to become a global Ford Racing ambassador,” wrote Ricciardo. “I am going to work closely with the Ford Racing team and focus specifically on the great Raptor brand and the lifestyle that Raptor has become for many of Ford’s customers.
“So why now, and why I? When I decided it was time to retire, I thought long and hard about finding the most authentic way to stay connected to the world of motorsport. For me, racing always started to make fun. It made me happy and created memories that last a lifetime.”
Ricciardo withdraws from racing with a record of eight Grand Prix victories and 32 podiums from 257 Starts in a career that included Stints at HST, Toro Rosso, Red Bull, Renault and McLaren, prior to his return to what Toro Rosso was under racing.
Ricciardo finished twice in the top three of the driver’s championship and achieved third place behind the dominant Mercedes drivers in 2014 and 2016 while he was with Red Bull. His last victory came four years ago for McLaren in Monza.
