‘My Lovely Journey’ wonders what the next one is for an ex-K-pop trainee

Kang Yeo-Reum has been on the same trip since she became a K-pop-trainee at the age of 13, but that trip is over, so she has to decide where she is going. Yeo-Reum, the main character in the K-drama My beautiful tripWanted to be a star so that she could make her parents proud. But after her years in a girls’ group did not lead to success, she became a travel reporter for a show that explored Korea. But no matter how difficult she tried to make that show a success, she was hampered by an annoying director and his choices were finally canceled.

Yeo-Reum, played by Gong Seung-Yeon (Karma, Are you human, flower team Joseon wedding agency), is one of the most sympathetic K-drama heroines of the year. She works hard, remains optimistic and cheerful, but life keeps on stacking on the failures, including a failed relationship with a boyfriend who didn’t deserve her.

Her agent Oh Sang-Sik, played by Yu Jun-Sang (The Creepy Teller 2, Alchemy of Souls, The Penthouse) is due to his last two customers and with the cancellation of her show the end of her career seems to be leading to the end of his desk. Her sense of joy in the surrounding world is an untouched talent.

When things start to become desperate, she is offered a fee to make a mysterious journey and to film the location. The concept is a bit weird, but from options she finally agrees. For the first time in her life she has to make all the appointments and call the shots. It is an emotional journey of self -discovery.

The drama investigates what happens when the K-pop dream is not realized. An ex-train cannot be prepared to deal with a practical way if they are no longer managed by a desk. In this way it is a coming of age story, although Yeo-Reum is old enough to take care of itself. She is sure that her journey means the end of her career, but it can be a new beginning.

Lee Yeon-seok, played by Kim Jae-Young (Love in contractReflection of you, judge from hell) is a TV editor connected to her show. Or he was until he spoke to defend her. He kept her an eye on her and he knows how she suffered. As a Stamied film director, he must also change his life.

The drama is based on the novel of 2021 Oka no ue no kenjin tabya ocheri By Maha Harada. It is directed by Kang Sol and was adapted for the screen by Jang Hweee-Hyun.
