My golf season is coming to an end

My golf season is coming to an end

It is always a challenge during the autumn season to go on the links to play a round of golf. I am usually working on other activities, but occasionally I am on the links to play that last fantastic round with friends. Yesterday was one of those days. I had not waved a club a bit of a club and was a bit rusty, that should be expected. No matter how I hit the ball, nothing replaced the great time I had with my friend Mike while we have the Mattawa Golf and Ski Resort.

Mike does not live in the area, so we try to play a round or two when he visits. We met about 8 years ago on the Osprey Left Golf Course and have become good friends since then. Over the years we have developed a small match play game where the winner can receive the maximum of three dollars, but the real prize is the brag. I have to admit that Mike has dominated the matches in the last three years before yesterday. Well, yesterday is a different story.

When we hit the left yesterday, it was sunny and 20 ° C (68 ° F). The course was in good condition, it was empty and it felt like we had the place. In general, the circumstances were fantastic to play a round of golf.

We both started roughly, so I was finished after the first hole. It took a few more fluctuations for both of us to take some decent photos. We exchange points (and Jabs to each other) so that we were tied up in the 9th hole. This is where Mike’s wheels fell off. Normally a very consistent player, Mike struggled for three holes and that was enough for me to get on the gas and win the game. Interesting is that we still trade in for the rest of the round, but not enough to make Mike a dent in the score. The last count was that I won three dollars and brag all!

The Golf was secondary to the great time I had on the links. We laughed, jokes, told stories and just enjoyed the moment of golf with friends. We shot the course as if we had no care in the world. And at the end of the round we went to the golf course for Brenda’s world famous Sandwich with Turkey Club. I have been lyrical about this sandwich for Mike for years and I am happy to be able to say that the meal did not disappoint. Mike loved the Turkey club and agreed that it was the best he ever tasted. What a fantastic way to oversee our round.

It is always nice to hit a white ball around a huge open space. What makes the round fantastic is golf with friends. That is what happened yesterday, because Mike and I had the chance to enjoy the last days of my golf season for 2025. I hope I can get a few more rounds before the snow flies, but for now, if my season ended, I am grateful that it ended in a high tone.

I am a grateful golfer! See you on the links!
