More sharing about why I started eating red meat again, how I feel, and a friendly memory that the best eating strategy is the one who works for you. No shadow or judgment here.
Hello friends! How are you? I hope you’re going well for week! We have eaten with friends, family dinner at Madre’s, Mass, NCL, the usual fun things. This is our first full week of school + home school, so we are officially back in it. Good luck for all my mom friends who are there while we go back to the chaos!
For today’s message I wanted to talk a bit about meat. I realized a few weeks ago that this summer was my 10 -year -old beef country after I had not eaten red meat or a lot of meat for most of my life.
I stopped eating meat when I was eight years old because I read Tigerbeat That Jonathan Taylor Thomas was a vegetarian. Because I would certainly marry him – he just had to meet me – of course I also had to be a vegetarian. (And yes, my parents tried to talk out completely, but I was a stubborn small thing and they supported me.)
I didn’t eat any meat at all until I was in high school and even then it was a bit clear to me. I finally added it during the university (eating low carbohydrates a little), met the pilot, saw a couple of documentaries and read a particularly frightening book, and then found me again as a Pescatarian, then as a vegetarian, and a vegan for a few years.
I loved vegetable food and still love vegan food. (A random fact about me is that I went to the raw vegan culinary school. This chocolate cake is the best vegan cake you have in your liiiife.) I had added fishing and just before I became pregnant with Liv, I started eating chicken again. The internet became wild. That was also back on the day when a garbage post that took me 30 minutes to write would get more than 100 responses. Those were the days haha.
When I was pregnant with P, I longed for a steak, so I got home and asked the pilot if he would grill one for me.
You should have seen the joy on his face. He went to Whole Foods, grabbed a beautiful steak with grass, grilled to perfection and I ate the whole thing.
When I told my acupuncturist about this, he said, “You have to eat flesh and blood to make flesh and blood.” Lol.
Since then I have not really looked back and now I eat meat several times a week. Although I don’t think we need insane amounts of proteins, I think it is certainly important. (I still believe that fiber and micronutrients are the most important!)
Beef food again after being a vegetarian
Anyway, now that I have been everywhere as far as the meat consumption goes, there are a few things that I have learned along the way:
– Quality makes the difference in the world. It is important for me that the products we use come from in a responsible and sustainable way. This is a huge reason why we almost get all our meat ButcherAnd I also buy certified organic and grass fed options from Whole Foods and the Boerenmarkt.
-It is really a bio -indiviaul -thing. Just like everything else, it depends on your unique body, preferences and needs. Some people feel terrible on protein -rich diets while others thrive. All in all, I feel that most women are doing really well with the nutrients that meat offers. There are also certain nutrients that you can get on animals -based products, and I feel that they can be extremely nourishing and satisfying. I really feel that I came back to life when I started eating red meat again.

– If you want to achieve your protein goals, meal preparation is the best way to do this. I love making hard -boiled eggs, grated chicken, chicken compartments and seasoned ground beef. P and I had bowls of beef with rice and avocado with a side of fruit for lunch almost every day last week.
– As I said above, proteins/meat is only a piece of the puzzle once. How much color is there on your plate? How did you sleep? How is it stress? How is your digestion? Mood? Cycle? Excercise? There are so many things that contribute to a well -rounded routine, but nutrients are definitely an important piece in how we feel and function.

So, tell me, friends: all vegetarians/vegans who have decided to eat meat again, or what new vegetarians/vegans? How’s your experience?
Kind reminder that this is a non-worthy space. I know that people can be fired over these things, but the reality is that we all do the best we can do on this wild journey of being as healthy as we can be. <3
Have a nice day and I see you soon!
XO
Gina
