Lorenzo Musetti hopes that 2025 is the year that he finally gets the open trophy of Chengdu.
The best seed yielded an insured display on Sunday evening to go beyond Nikoloz Basilashvili 6-3, 6-3 and to reach its third consecutive semifinal at the Chinese ATP 250 event. Musetti, who now has a record of seven victories in Chengdu, will continue his title search against qualifying Taro Daniel or Alexander Shevchenko.

“I knew it was a difficult opponent, I lost this year to him in Wimbledon,” said Musetti, who aimed his Lexus ATP Head2head series with Basilashvili on 2-2. “He is really aggressive, so you have to stay focused on every point. I felt that he was playing tennis well, but I managed to stay there, especially on my serve, and I am very happy that I am in the semi -final. [will be] Ready for the fight. ”

The 24-year-old came in two defeat in serving on 4-5, 40/40, but came up a link and ran through a third set of Tie-Break to continue to his third ATP Tour Semi-Final of the season.
After they run to the last four in Acapulco and Houston, Nakashima stands in front of a Chengdu meeting with Alejandro Tabilo, who continued his run of the qualification to reach Christopher O’Connell 4-6, 7-5, 6-2 and bars its first semi-final since Mallorca last June.

After wrestling for shape and dealing with wrist and abdominal injuries during the first eight months of 2025, Tabilo turned his season on Chinese soil. He reached the final last week at the ATP Challenger Tour event in Guangzhou and rose 20 places to no. 92 in the PIF ATP Live rankings with his three main-draw victories in Chengdu.
“I’m just so happy now, especially from the qualities, it’s an unreal feeling,” said Tabilo. “I did quite well here in China. I love it here.”
