Chelsea are preparing a move for Gleison Bremer this summer, with Italian outfit Calciomercato – reported by Caught Offside – reporting that Juventus could be tempted to sell the centre-back for a fee in the region of £60m.
CHELSEA‘s search for defensive reinforcements has intensified as the club continues to reshape its long-term squad. The Blues pushed hard to sign young French defender Jeremy Jacquet in the final days of the January window, with the teenager opting for a move to Liverpool at the end of the season.
The 28-year-old Bremer has been one of Serie A’s most consistent and physically dominant defenders in recent years. His performances for Juventus – characterized by strong aerial skills, aggressive positioning and reliability in one-on-one situations – have made him a key figure in Luciano Spalletti’s backline.
Despite this, Juventus are expected to receive offers for several high-value players this summer as they reshape their squad and assess financial conditions.
CHELSEA view Bremer as an ideal candidate for Liam Rosenior’s defensive rebuild, with characteristics suitable for the Premier League and leadership qualities that would complement the club’s younger centre-backs. With the uncertainty surrounding some current defenders and the need for more stability at the back, Bremer’s profile closely aligns with the club’s recruitment priorities.
No formal offer has been submitted but Chelsea are said to be evaluating the financial feasibility of a move. While Juventus are not actively pushing for a sale, they are believed to be open to negotiations if a bid reaches the £60m threshold, giving the Blues a potential opening ahead of other interested European clubs.
Would Bremer be a good signing for Chelsea?
A move for Bremer would mark a shift in Chelsea’s recent transfer strategy, prioritizing an experienced, proven defender rather than another long-term project. It is a decision that makes sense. CHELSEA‘s backline lacked consistency, leadership and physical presence, and Bremer would address all three issues immediately.
The question, however, is a matter of balance. With significant investment in young defenders already made, another major outlay – especially for a player approaching his prime – must be weighed against the needs in midfield and attack.
Still, stability at the rear is fundamental, and Bremer offers just that
MURILLO WANTED
Chelsea are ready to make a formal offer for Murillo, amid growing expectations that the centre-back will leave Nottingham Forest this summer, according to TEAMtalk. The 23-year-old has emerged as one of the Premier League’s standout young defenders and has attracted interest from several top clubs across Europe after an impressive debut season in English football.
CHELSEA They are believed to have prioritized signing a centre-back in January but have failed to secure their preferred targets. The club had been tracking promising defender Jeremy Jacquet, but the teenager agreed a deal to join Liverpool at the end of the current season.
Missing Jacquet has accelerated Chelsea’s search for Murillo, who is seen as a player who can step into the first team immediately, and Murillo’s stock has risen sharply since his arrival from Brazil last year.
His composure on the ball, strength in duels and ability to break opposition lines with progressive play have made him a key figure for Nottingham Forest. However, with the club facing both on-field challenges and financial pressure, a high-value sale is seen as increasingly likely this summer.
CHELSEAIn the meantime, consider the central defender’s left position as a priority area. With the future of several defenders uncertain and long-term squad plans in place, the club is targeting a younger profile who can develop under Liam Rosenior while offering immediate depth. Murillo’s age, physical profile and Premier League experience suit the club’s recruitment strategy.
Talks between the clubs have not yet begun, but Chelsea are reportedly confident they can meet Forest’s valuation, which is expected to be in excess of £50m. Forest are willing to listen to offers but will look to create a competitive bidding environment, with interest also coming from clubs in Spain and Italy.
Will Chelsea actually make a formal offer for Murillo?
CHELSEA‘s interest in Murillo is logical – and also revealing. The club continues to invest heavily in emerging talent, with the aim of building a squad built for long-term success. Murillo is tailor-made for that approach. He has already shown he can perform in the Premier League, and his ceiling is high.
The concern, however, is whether Chelsea risk overcrowding its defensive department without addressing more pressing structural issues elsewhere in the squad.
Another young centre-back adds potential, but not necessarily stability. At the same time, if Murillo develops into the commanding defender many expect him to be, passing on him could prove costly.
DIOMANDE CONFIRMS OPPORTUNITY TO JOIN CHELSEA
RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande has revealed that he previously turned down the chance to join Chelsea, insisting that choosing a developmental path through CD Leganés ultimately proved crucial to his career.
Speaking in an interview with German outlet Imagethe Ivory Coast international explained that as a teenager he was faced with what many described as an obvious choice – signing for Chelsea – and yet chose what he believed was the better environment for immediate playing time and long-term growth.
“A lot of people told me that I absolutely had to play for it CHELSEADiomande said. ‘A lot of people told me I absolutely had to play for Chelsea. Then I stopped everything and made a decision for myself. I knew the president of Leganes; he had helped with my move to the US.
“Suddenly I was faced with a choice: Leganes or Chelsea? It was risky, but luckily it was the right decision. I think patience is very important in football. It’s not always just about money. If you play well, it will happen.”
‘I’m young; I have to play to increase my sporting value, to improve. And I wouldn’t get that on the bench.”
Diomande’s decision to join Leganés proved to be the start of a meteoric rise. After developing in Spain, he secured a move to RB Leipzig, where he has become one of the most highly rated young players in the Bundesliga. His performances have attracted the attention of Europe’s top clubs, including interest from Bayern Munich, although Diomande remains focused on continuing his progression in Leipzig.
Looking back on the path he took, he reiterated that it was essential to bypass an important step early in his career: “I’m happy that I chose the path that allowed me to play and grow. That made the difference.”
While the Premier League remains a dream destination for many young players, Diomande’s comments highlight the increasingly common belief that long-term development is best served by measured steps rather than premature moves by big clubs.
His decision seems justified: regular first-team football in Spain and Germany has allowed him to establish himself as one of Europe’s fastest-rising players.
