Munny de Munster “Stormen” in $ 75k final

He has been bred to be more than handy, but the two -year -old Trotter Munny The Munster (Love you) proved that there are probably big things with impressive performance on Nutrien Heat Night in Bendendo (3 September).

Munny de Munster, named after Melbourne Storm NRL star Cameron Munster, produced a lightning sprint that even surprised his trainer-Driver team, men and female duo Mark Lee and Stacey Towers.

“We always thought he would be tough, but as soon as I withdrew the turn, I was like whoa! He felt really good in the run to the line,” Towers said.

The victory came in the second heat of the Nutrien Sales 2yo Trotters series, where Munny The Munster’s place was booked in the $ 75,000 final in Melton next Saturday evening (September 13).

Settering and spotting the leaders at least 25 meters in the rear rear, Munny de Munster wiped three and four wide of the 500m.

Without towers who had to move a muscle, the foal stormed home in a smooth last quarter of 28.7 seconds to win with four meters, run away.

“We knew he had talent, but as a baby trotter we really didn’t ask him to run on, so we really didn’t know where he was,” Towers said.

“But the faster they go better, the better he feels. He drops his head and flatten out … It was quite exciting to be honest.”

Munny De Munster is from one start Maiden Gypsy Flair (Sky valleyFionas Flair) and is a half -brother of G1 winners Banglez (Majestic son) and just a little sensitive (Father Patrick).

But his temperament has not always made things easy.

“His sister was ‘just a bit sensitive’, and we always made jokes that he would be called ‘a Helluva Lot Touchy’! He is just such a big ghost, very jumpy, but we have just taken our time and have taken him confident and arranged,” Towers said.

Owners Dean and Blanche Poole, of Rhiannon Park, brought the young person through the yearling sale, but when he was passed on, they sent him to Lee and Towers to break.

His debut run in Shepparton (third) on August 26 was encouraging, but Towers said with the gelding who “wanted to run the gate”, Lee spent a lot of time walking with the young person in an attempt to relax him more in the lead to his second start.

“This race (the Nutrien -Final) was the goal when we broke it for the first time, so it’s nice for Blanche and Dean that plan came together. It’s great to see that they get a reward of everything they have put into the sport.”

Munny The family tree of the Munster suggests a lot of benefits. All six foals of his Dam Gypsy Flair are winners, and his Grand Dam Fionas Flair (entrepreneur) himself was a GR 2-winning trotter who produced G1 winners a touch of Flair, son of Flair, Mighty Maori and father under muscles.

And the Colt may have inherited a little flair -and based on its Bendendo Heat victory, the $ 75,000 Nutrien -Final could only be the start.

Lee and towers are based on Tallygaroopna near Shepparton. Mark works the horses full -time, while Stacey balances a stable life with her role as an educational support officer in a local primary school.

They have had an unusually quiet start of the racing season, with only nine starters, who are more focused on breaking in young people and yearling preparation, after sending their racing horses to campaign in NSW with Blake and Ellen Jones in Narrandera.

“With the reduction of Stakemoney here, we made those decisihttps: //harneslink.com/author/terry/on. Both children, Bohdi (15) and Bronte (11) are in sport, so it really worked well for us as a family,” said Towers.

“But it is absolutely great to have a nice back on the races and we look forward to seeing what he can do.”
