Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard clawed his way through a dramatic first set before he was submitted on Thursday in the Winston-Salem Open Semi-Finales.

In two contrasting sets, the Frenchman Hamad Medjedovic defeated 7-6 (8), 6-2, in which the ninth seed 1/5 pursued in the first set of Tie-Break and save four set points before he stealed the opener. Mpetshi Perricard, 22, hammered 15 aces and won 83 percent (34/41) of his first-state points, according to Infosys ATP statistics, to move forward.

Mpetshi Perricard then plays Buyunchaokete or Botic van de Zandschulp on the ATP 250.

Home favorite Sebastian Korda continued convincingly. The 25-year-old, who participates in his first tournament since Roland Garros because of a judge shin fracture, reduced Miomir Kecmanovic 6-1, 6-4.

“I think it was a great game. We played earlier this year, so I took a few tactics from that match,” said Korda, who leads Kecmanovic 2-1 in their Lexus ATP Head2head series. “I thought I executed reasonably well, quite a bit came and tried to stay aggressive. Miomir is an incredible returner, so a high first-serve percentage was crucial today and I think I served pretty well.”

Until the last four is the 11th seed of Korda opposite Marton Fucsovics, who defeated Jaume Munar 7-5, 6-3 to claim his 100th Tour level hard winnings. The 33-year-old is the first Hungarian man in the open era to achieve that performance.
