THE devastated mother of a former nursing student found dead in a Glasgow flat has told how she believes her son was the victim of ‘foul play’ after previously unseen post-mortem findings revealed disturbing injuries.
Mikhail Ackrim, 37, was found face down and semi-naked on a bedroom floor at a property on Springfield Road in Parkhead, Glasgow, on August 15, 2024. He had been dead for hours.

Police said the death was being treated as unexplained and linked to a serious assault reported at the same address.
But according to new reports, pathologists found that Mikhail had drugs and alcohol in his system, and also suffered bruising to his face, body and limbs, as well as four stab wounds to his right leg.
One of the wounds was deep enough to break the fibula and was probably inflicted after his death.
A post-mortem concluded that while the drugs – alcohol and bromazolam – found in his system may have contributed to his death, the circumstances were too unclear for a definitive finding.

His body was found as police investigated reports that another man had been attacked with a knife and robbed at the flat, which Mikhail was visiting after a night out on the town.
The property was managed by Mears Group – a company contracted by the Home Office to provide temporary accommodation for asylum seekers.
Although the death and the early stages of the investigation made headlines, Mikhail’s name was never mentioned in the press.
His distraught mother, Sheena Miller, said she is “no further along in discovering how her son died.”

Speaking out for the first time, she told the BBC: “It’s terrible, you can’t even imagine what it’s like. My family is getting no response,” she said.
“I haven’t slept all year. My hair fell out, I had to wear a wig and it made me really sick.”
“This was my child, this was my first born baby.”
She told how she “couldn’t even function” after receiving the heartbreaking news, adding: “My son had broken bones down to the fibula… he had stab wounds and bruises all over his body.”
Sheena believes her son was the victim of a crime and not enough was done to determine what happened the night he died, adding: “There was no plea to the public.”
She said Mikhail’s name had not been released to the media, adding: “My little boy was described as a corpse found in Parkhead within the last 15 months… that’s heartbreaking.”
According to reports, Police Scotland said extensive investigations were carried out and no crime was found. They are also reported to have said that the death remains unexplained and would be fully investigated if any new information came to light.
The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service confirmed that no further action has been taken as a result of the investigation, although the case may be reviewed if new evidence emerges.
