November 1, 2025

What lies beneath? As November begins with a build-up of planets in water signs, skimming the surface is no longer the way to go. We are drawn back into the depths, ready or not, as the stars sound the call for reflection.

Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are already in retrogrades as November begins

We don’t have just one four planets retrograde to kick off November, with Mercury and Jupiter joining the retrograde parade in the second week of the month. Given the chaotic state of the world, we can only hope that these cycles will remind us of our shared humanity rather than further divide us – but that can seem like an impossibly tall order some days.

As the Sun digs through piercing Scorpio until November 21, the month begins with intensity, mystery, and an impulse to get radically honest about what lurks beneath the surface.

Scorpio rules transformation, and even if we can only apply that to our personal lives, every bit of molecule shift helps. Whether you’re letting go of emotional baggage or rewriting a story that no longer serves you, the first three weeks can be a deep dive.

What could you release before the end of 2025?

Guiding insight arrives on November 5 at the Taurus full supermoon, an emotionally charged lunar lift that helps us sort through what feels safe and what’s stagnant.

Taurus rules security, both emotionally and financially, and helps turn ideas into tangible form. Look back to the Taurus new moon on April 27 for clues about what might come to fruition next.

Just two days later, on November 7, rebellious Uranus retrogrades back into Taurus for its final visit in our lives

Uranus, which moved into Gemini on July 7 for the first time since 1949, is retrograde from September 1 to February 3. In April 2026, he will end an eight-year stay in Taurus (apart from the short break this summer and fall), settling in Gemini until 2033.

During the holidays, you may once again encounter the seismic shifts that began back in 2018. Uranus is the planet of innovation and technology; Taurus rules our daily lives and the material world. With AI coming for, well, everything – or so we’re told – Uranus’ return to earth sign Taurus is sure to remind us of its limits.

Taurus rules the body, and the return of Uranus here reminds us of our human, flesh-and-blood biological needs. Before humanity turns completely against itself in the name of “progress,” November’s retrogrades might blessedly hit the brakes.

From the “pharma geography” crisis spawned by AI data center land grabs, ICE attacks and tariffs crushing American farmers, to the government shutdown impacting SNAP benefits and food assistance programs, to the “Big Beautiful Bill” that threatens to wipe out medical benefits for America’s poor and elderly, to mounting climate problems… can the other planets make any sense of this?

We’ll see – starting with the question of whether anyone will listen to each other at all.

Communication planet Mercury turns retrograde on November 9

Didn’t think four retrogrades were enough? On November 9, Mercury retrogresses through global Sagittarius before moving into secretive Scorpio on November 18. Miscommunication, technical failures and international tensions can flare up.

Layered on top of all this, multicultural ambassador Jupiter also goes retrograde on November 11 and begins a reflective journey through nurturing Cancer until March 10.

Cancer rules the home and family, with a particular emphasis on women and children, the populations that will be hit hardest by many of the political events mentioned above.

Will we reach a breaking point at the Scorpio new moon?

On November 20, the moon’s monthly “reset button” will align with retrograde Mercury and shadowy Black Moon Lilith. This new moon trio also forms a rare and powerful Grand Water Trine with idealist Neptune, teacher Saturn and retrograde Jupiter. This configuration has the potential to be a healing gateway, or an unleashing of the emotional floodgates.

The anger of the citizens, fueled by Lilith’s righteous indignation, will return home (cue Jupiter retrograde in Cancer). Hopefully it will call for accountability from elected officials, rather than unleashing more anger on their innocent scapegoats.

Just in time, Sagittarius season begins on November 21st

As the sun transitions into free-spirited Sag, it restores our big picture, including perspective. Then Saturn ends its retrograde on November 27 and moves forward into Pisces for one final round (until February 13) before leaving for almost 30 years.

Wow! November is definitely one of the tougher months of this already tough year. Perhaps the best news is that we are closer to the finish line. It’s been a long time.

But all is not lost; If we have learned anything in 2025, it is how we can come together in our local communities to protect each other in unthinkable scenarios.

Now might be a good time to quote the words of Sagittarius author and cultural anthropologist Margaret Mead: “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. In fact, it’s the only one that ever has.”
