Mongo returns to Royals | Pro hockey news

Reading, PA.-The Reading Royals, Echl branch of the Philadelphia Flyers from the National Hockey League and Lehigh Valley Phantoms of the American Hockey League, announced that attacker Yvan Mongo again signed for the 2025-26 season.

Mongo returns to Reading for his fourth professional season after recording 58 points (24G-34A) in 110 games in the past three seasons. During the 2024-25 campaign, the Gatineau, Quebec Native Seven Points (2G-5A) registered in 15 games in the regular season before adding an assist to four games during the Kelly Cup-Play-Offs

The 28-year-old placed 38 points (17G-21A) in 55 games for the royals during the 2023-24 season. He finished fourth in the team in points (38) and fixed Ryan Chyzowski and Joe Nardi for the team leader in goals (17). During the 2022-23 campaign, Mongo placed 13 points (5G-8A) in 40 games in the regular season. He added two points (1G-1a) and four penalty minutes in nine games during the play-off run of the Royals 2023 Kelly Cup. His first professional contract was signed with the Royals on July 1, 2022 from the University of Ottawa.

In four seasons at the University of Ottawa of 2018-22, Mongo in 72 matches amounted to 52 points (20G-32A). Moreover, Mongo served two seasons as a team captain of the Gee-Gees, including his last year in which he led the club in points (14) and assists (10).
