Fleischmann, whose jurisdiction Chattanooga-based M&M industries includes, seemed to take the promise of RFK JR to personally free the food supply of artificial colors, and the potential impact on jobs in his district is enormous.
“I know that the FDA has taken important steps to ban or throw them synthetic coloring colorings over the years, and I respect that,” said Rep Fleischmann.
“Current colors that have been used and have been approved by the FDA have been considered safe for many years.”
Food paint such as Red 40, which are linked to hyperactivity and developmental problems in children in large quantities, are approved by the FDA under general as safe designation.
Gras is a self -reporting system with which companies can determine the safety of ingredients based on the conclusions of a scientific panel.
RFK JR has the approval route in his cross-hair, after he has said in the past that food companies are allowed to fly under the radar for too long.
Kennedy said: “We think we have good science that connects almost all of these dyes with ADHD, with neurological injury, with cancer.”

RFK and colleague members of the administration announced the industrial announcement last week that it is planning to work with food companies to use Red 40, Yellow 5, Yellow 6, Blue 1, Blue 2 and Green 3 quickly at the end of 2026 and to first use natural alternatives, which will first approve or deny.
“We have worked with the food industry and we have found the food industry very receptive,” RFK told Rep Fleischmann.
“They have agreed to abolish the two worst of them, namely Orange B and Red Citrus Three, and the other seven dyes within two years, and some of the food companies such as Tyson’s food have already eliminated because of our conversations.”
Kennedy added that the FDA has already approved three alternatives for healthcare paint: Galdieria extract blue, butterfly pod flower extract and calcium phosphate.
He suggested last month that more additives could be the following and the crowd told: ‘We will get rid of the dyes and we will get rid of every ingredient and additive in food that we can legally tackle.
Neither Kennedy nor the FDA has determined whether the administration has signed formal similarities with specific food companies to ensure that they keep themselves. Lobbyists in the industry told Bloomberg that there were no deals to remove the dyes.
Consuming RED 40 and others is regularly linked to hyperactivity in some children with and without ADHD.
Studies have suggested that eating the dye can worsen the symptoms or cause behavioral changes.

Some studies have made connections between the dye and changes in the behavior of children and changes in hormone activity, which contributes to thyroid problems
Canadian researchers have also found Red 40, also known as Allura Red, can hinder the ability of the intestine from absorbing nutrients, water and electrolytes, increasing the risk of a person on the development of an inflammatory bowel disorders.
