The Malaysian Institute for Road Safety Research (Miros) is investigating the truck involved in a fatal crash on the Kajang Toll Plaza, and it focuses in particular on the truck’s braking system, which is assumed to function poorly, reported Declared.
The Miros Crash Investigation Team works to determine whether brake failure or other factors were the primary cause of the incident according to the report.
“Miros works closely with relevant authorities, including the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), Road Transport Department (JPJ) and the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) to guarantee a thorough investigation. This evaluation is crucial in identifying the cause and formulating the statement.”

Kajang District Police Chief Naazron Abdul Yusof said that preliminary investigation has shown that the driver claimed that he jumped out of the vehicle after experiencing brake failure.

The Declared Report quoted a Miros research from 2022 which showed that 31.9% of the public and commercial vehicles that had attacked the industrial code of Practice (ICOP) for the safety of road transport. Larger operators showed a higher compliance with 93.6%, while Express and Tourbus operators registered the compliance rates of 78% and 71% respectively.
In the meantime, Minister of Transport Anthony Loke stated that provisional police findings revealed that the annual baby was thrown out of the vehicle and was imprisoned under another vehicle in the incident, reported The star.
The research institute said that from 2014 to 2023, PDRM statistics had shown that on average 434 children died annually in traffic accidents, and stated that although the use of child protection systems (CRS), or child seats in Malaysia have been mandatory since January 2020, CRS usage at 30% per 2022.
