The Hockey team of Minnesota has announced two staff updates prior to the 2025-26 season.

Assistant coach Jessica Scott has been promoted to general manager-assistant coach and Ryan Kearney has been hired as director of operations and video analyzes.

Scott becomes the first general manager by recruiting/coaching capacities in the NCAA Women’s College Hockey History.

In her time in Minnesota, De Coon Rapids, Minn., Native served as director operations of the program from 2019 to 2022 before he was promoted to assistant coach. Behind the couch, Scott helped Minnesota to two frozen four performances and one WCA Tour title in Leiden.

On the international side, Scott served as director of hockey activities for the women’s team of the United States under the age of 18 that silver won at the IIHF World Championships 2022 in Madison, Wis., And Bronze at the 2023 tournament in Ostersund, Sweden.

“In the constant evolving landscape of university athletics, it is essential before the curve’s bend,” said Gopher’s head coach Brad Frost in a statement. “Jess’s experience, insight and approach make her perfect for this role.”

In addition to her coaching responsibilities on the ice, Scott will serve as the recruitment coordinator of the program. She will lead and implement all domestic and international recruitment planning, logistics and evaluations and organize potential official and unofficial campus visits. Scott will supervise the budget of the program and serve as the contact person with important support units, including academics, compliance/financial help, housing, communication and marketing. She will also serve as a contact person with Dinkytown athletes to support zero chances for student athletes.

Kearney joins De Gophers after three seasons in Colgate and works as director of hockey operations for the Women’s Hockey team.

“Ryan brings a wealth of experience from his time with Colgate and USA hockey,” said Frost. “He has a great knowledge and understanding of video, analyzes and general operations. We are very enthusiastic that he has chosen to become a member of our GoPher staff.”

Kearney served with a Colgate staff that helped the Raiders accompany three consecutive 30-plus win seasons, with a general record of 94-22-3. Along the way, Kearney and Colgate added two ECAC hockey championships, three NCAA tournament performances and one NCAA Frozen Four appearance in 2024.

In addition to his role at Colgate, the Iowa graduated was a video assistant for the Black Bears of the Nahl’s Maryland. Since 2023, Kearney has also served as hockey activities and video coach for the Girls National Camps of USA Hockey.
