A family that lives the worst nightmare of each parent has issued an urgent warning after their toddler had swallowed two magnets and ended up in an induced coma.
Three-year-old Millie will recover for months in the Queensland Children’s Hospital in Brisbane, 370 km from her house in Bundaberg.
The toddler was taken to the hospital at the beginning of July after a abdominal pain, high fever and green vomit quickly deteriorated in a life -threatening emergency.
Her entrails began to be closed when her condition deteriorated and within a few days Millie had flown to Brisbane for emergency operations.
While she was placed on living, doctors warned her parents Emily and Luke that would be critical in the coming days And there was no certainty that Millie would survive.
The little girl had swallowed itWO small powerful magnets on individual occasions, which were locked together in her belly.
The magnets caused catastrophic damage to her digestive system when her intestine leaked in her belly, as well as serious infection and sepsis.
Surgeons pulled more than a liter of pus from Millie’s small body and removed most of her intestine.

Millie will undergo several operations in the coming weeks, where doctors will try to re -confirm her intestine.
Family and friends have gathered around Millie’s parents, who have put their entire lives on hold to be at the bed of their daughter.
‘They are far from home, away from their other children, family and support systems,’ one Gofundme Page started by a family friend declared.
‘They are confronted with increasing accounts, rental, travel and costs of living while trying to stay on the side of their little girl.
‘This is the nightmare of every parent, and it is not over yet.
‘We are more than grateful that Millie is still there, thanks to the urgent and expert care she has received. This family is now confronted with a long and uncertain road that lies in front of us. ‘
Fundraising increases the consciousness of the life -threatening dangers of powerful magnets in the hope that other families do not have to go through the same test.
The magnets that Millie has swallowed are forbidden to be sold in Australia and New Zealand, but can be found in products that have been purchased abroad or online.

“These small but powerful magnets can be found in toys, refrigerators, electronics, even jewelry,” the fundraising continued.
‘There is just not enough consciousness, and it almost costs Millie her life. Magnets are not toys and parents deserve to know how dangerous they can be.
“If this message only reaches one other family and prevents another child from walking through what Millie has, then something good can come from this heartbreaking test.”
“Symptoms can take hours or days to appear and choke, drools, abdominal pain, discomfort or pain around the face or throat, cramps, nausea and vomiting.”
