Farmingdale, NY – Michael Jordan did not arrive at the 13th Hole Camerators this year appeared.
He did not belong to the people of Bethpage Black, and then he was. All 6 feet 6 centimeters from him, draped in White Team USA equipment and burn with a blue flame of competitive anger.
Jordan loves Golf, and his biennial performances in the Ryder Cup have realized the opposite. His sudden rise on Ryder Cup Friday morning was a cultural experience for the Long Island Golf Faithful, who was happy with the appearance of his airiness that rode in a cart next to the American team, and which clearly believed that the mythical forces of Jordan could be won by Osmosis.
But there was a problem brewing by the time that he was against the 13th Hole camerators at the Beest. The Americans were not Winning, and unless Jordan’s powers started to work quickly, the home team can get into trouble.
Jordan leaned forward as Tyrrell Hatton, part of the first European combination of the day, a 10-foot Birdie Putt stared down to allow his energetic American counterparts, Bryson Dephambeau and Justin Thomas to sink. Hatton aimed his putter and shot. The ball fell into the hole. Deschambeau and Thomas Verzelken. Jordan shivered.
He walked away before Hatton took his ball out of the hole. But before he disappeared, Jordan could not help himself. He looked away with contempt and then he delivered three ominous words.
‘We have problems. ”
Ryder Cup’s largest hero, biggest Dud from Friday in Bethpage

The truth was much more damaging. The Americans didn’t have that alone troublethey had old Problems. Well -known problems. Problems that had to be solved before the Europeans entered Bethpage and a lead of 5.5-2.5 days 1 stable.
The truth was that Friday’s Americans on the Ryder Cup 2025 looked a lot on Friday’s Americans on the Ryder Cup 2023 – and that was the biggest problem of all.
On That On Friday back in ’23, the US went off 6.5-1.5 in Marco Simone during a crooked morning session and an uneven afternoon session. In ’23, the Europeans revealed a three-person monster that the Americans could not answer in Four-Ball and could not compete in alternative shot. On that Friday, the Americans started flat and stayed there while they looked while their best players faltered and the euro kept everything behind. And on that Friday, the euros showed a deep knowledge of the strengths and weaknesses of their selection, while the American combinations were incoherent and were easy to gradually gradually.
Two years of Soul-searching followed that bad Friday in Rome. The PGA of America eventually settled on Keegan Bradley as the next American captain, largely because he represented a “break” of traditional American leadership. He entered the post preaching and supported it by hiring the very first team manager and a brand new suite of vice captains. Bethpage, another home game, promised to be different.
On this Ryder Cup Friday, however, the problems were the same. Just like ’23, they went down after a crooked morning and an uneven afternoon (although the Americans still scraped a point to descend only three, 5.5-2.5). Just like ’23, they were trounded by a three -headed European Monster (this time it was Rahm, Rory Mcilroy and Tommy Fleetwood). Just like ’23, the euro helped everything and the best American players faltered. And, just like ’23, the American selection decisions – in particular playing Datagolf’s 132nd arranged alternative shot pairs, Harris English and Collin Morikawa-Leken excess.
The scoreboard is intimidating, but as Bradley noticed on Friday evening, it is not eliminating.
“Well, we played 25 percent of the points. We played the first quarter of a football match or a basketball match,” said Bradley. “They went outside and they played better than we did today. They made more putts.”
That is all true, but the scoreboard is not the only thing to change for the Americans at this Ryder Cup. More than any change in the outcome, the US needs a change in spirit.
“0-2 today, pretty disappointed,” said Dechambeau. “I played golf well, just not good enough, and they made everything. Happiness is now on their side.”
Happiness, maybe, but the Americans know that winning is much more than happiness. They have a few powerful voices in that arena in Bethpage, no one more powerful than the man printed in white on Friday morning against the 13th cameraers.
After all, it was Jordan, who proudly told the world that he “had failed time and again, and that’s why I succeeded.”
The Americans certainly hope that that is true for this Ryder Cup Friday. Otherwise Jordan was right: they have problems – and with Bethpage they only get bigger.
