Chandler had called for a White House fight against Conor McGregor, but Dana White recently shot that down. He didn’t think that fight made sense, nor did he think McGregor would fight at that event.
However, Michael Chandler still has hopes that he can fight in the White House and plans to steal the show if he does.
“Obviously, as she and Dana have said, they’re going to start matchmaking (Monday, Jan. 26) and talk about the White House card,” Chandler said on UFC 324 (h/t MMA Junkie). “Everyone knows this is what I’m getting at. Best case, it’s me and Conor. Worst case, I’m still fighting in the White House, against someone else, and it’s going to be a great, badass match. And I’m going to steal the show, and I’m going to end up with one of those bonuses.”
Who Chandler will fight in the White House is uncertain, but he is confident he will be able to compete on the historic card.

Chandler’s original plan was to fight McGregor at the event, but White doesn’t have much interest in that fight.
“No disrespect to Chandler. We love Chandler. You don’t have enough time on your show to talk to you about how great Chandler is,” said on the Pat McAfee Show. “You know how I feel about Conor and everything he has done for the sport and this company. But yes, that is not the battle we are fighting.”
It’s undoubtedly disappointing for Chandler, who held out for the McGregor, especially after the two filmed TUF against each other. However, it appears the ship has sailed and Chandler will not be fighting McGregor at the White House.
