Michael Carrick: United legend reacts to Wolverhampton Wanderers links – Man United news and transfer news | The People’s Person

Manchester United legend Michael Carrick has remained coy about rumors linking him with the hot seat at Molineux. Wolverhampton Wanderers said goodbye to Vitor Pereira on Sunday after a difficult start to the season.

The Midlands club are currently bottom of the Premier League table after ten games, with two draws and eight defeats.

Pereira took charge of Wolves in December last year and helped them avoid relegation in the 2024/25 season. However, his team’s poor form this campaign has now cost him his job.

A recent report from The Peoples Person states that Carrick is among the shortlisted candidates to take over at Molineux.

Carrick has yet to take on the next assignment

Carrick recorded 464 appearances for United during his twelve-season stay at the Theater of Dreams. After retiring in 2018, the Englishman joined Mourinho’s backroom staff at Old Trafford and later filled the role under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Following the Norwegian’s departure in November 2021, Carrick briefly stayed at Old Trafford as caretaker manager, recording two wins and a draw in his three games in charge. The former midfielder left the Red Devils after the arrival of Ralf Rangnick.

Carrick took over at Middlesbrough in October 2022 and has recorded 63 wins in 136 games. However, he was relieved of his duties this summer after the North Yorkshire club finished 10th in the Championship.

Enjoying his free time

Speaking Match of the dayHowever, Carrick said he is enjoying a break from football.

“I’m enjoying some time off at the moment. I think I’m probably watching as much football now as I’ve ever seen, with a free eye and pretty much nothing on it,” Carrick said.

“I’m still learning, still trying to improve, but I enjoy doing this kind of thing (expertise). It’s a change, spending time with the family. I’ll see what’s next.”

As Wolves continue their search for a new manager, United are working to get back to their best under Ruben Amorim.

The Red Devils are currently four games unbeaten after securing a hard-fought 2-2 draw against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Saturday. After ten games they are now eighth in the Premier League.
