Despite the stunning win in the Manchester derby, Manchester United could still use reinforcements across the park.
Casemiro and Kobbie Mainoo ruled the midfield, but amid Manuel Ugarte’s problems it is clear that Michael Carrick could do with better options.
Ruben Amorim’s dismissal came about when he was denied funding to strengthen in January, but it appears INEOS have since softened their position.
Considering the good work Carrick has done so far, Fabrizio Romano has revealed that an internal meeting will take place to discuss the possibility of signing players before the January window closes.
Internal transfer conversation
The plan remains the same: most top targets are unlikely to jump ship mid-season, but a market opportunity or short-term takeover could be the way forward.

Michael Carrick could use some extra quality
“If they want to try and get a player for an opportunity, maybe in midfield, maybe in other positions, maybe a striker.
“So they have to assess and decide together with Michael Carrick whether to continue with the current team and invest in the summer.”
There are rumors that ex-Wolves star Ruben Neves could be a target, while even a loan signing cannot be ruled out.
An attacking signing could also be explored, but only if Joshua Zirkzee leaves. An interesting end to the window awaits the club.
