Miami Gardens officials have unveiled a street mentioned in honor of the links. The Links, Incorporated Way, celebrates the dedication of the organization to Dei – “Dedication, Education and Oondrijkheid.”
The links, recorded way, honor The contributions of one of the oldest and largest volunteer organizations in the country of professional women of African descent, reports the Culture XYZ. Founded in 1946, the group now has 17,000 members in 299 chapters and a long -term legacy of social engagement and community leadership, celebrated by the newly mentioned street.
“Dedication, education, ingenuity = dei,” said the national President Ethel Isaacs Williams, JD, who used her keynote address to describe the unveiling as proof of the organization’s mission, the lasting impact of it and the work that remains ahead. “Let the door cracked for those who come behind us.”
The unveiling was supported by local chapter members, including Jessica Garrett Modkins from the Greater Miami Chapter, who served as mistress of ceremonies, and Dr. Linda J. Johnson, also from Greater Miami, who supplied the invocation. The promise of Trouw was led by Georgia McLean of the chapter Miami-Biscayne Bay.
Chapter Presidents Sabrina Thomas Knight (Greater Miami), Teresa Brown (Dade County) and Reva Vangates (Miami-Biscayne Bay) offered greetings, accompanied by Anne Turner Herriott of the National Executive Board.
The local and state officials present were mayor Rodney Harris, councilor Reggie Leon, who presented the street sign, councilor Linda Julien of Miami Gardens and Reps. Felicia S. Robinson (D-Miami Gardens) from Florida (Dimi).
Reveren Tawnicia Rowan of the Chapter County closed the ceremony with a prayer.
“We are proud of being home from the first street in the United States dedicated to the links, recorded,” said Leon.
