Mets loses a heartbreaker to drop the eighth consecutive game with the season slipping

It was as if the violent wave of Juan Soto, who shot a no-doubter in the second deck, was directly focused on the stomach of the Mets.

That was the pain of this intestinal pot that spirits the Mets and perhaps from the play -off photo.

After seven excellent and scoreless innings on the defense and on the hill, the Mets in the eighth and ninth in a crushing and still one-3-2 Heart to the Rangers for 41,752 in Citi Field who started to cheer on Saturday for the old timers and the nightly Booing of the 2025 Mets.

The group of Carlos Mendoza (76-73) has lost eight consecutive no more devastating than no. 8 and could be on the outside of the play-off photo, awaiting the result of the Late Giants game.

On the back of the aggressive legs of Francisco Lindor (who scored one point in the fifth) and Juan Sotas 40th Explosion of the season (a monstrous shot in the seventh), plus Excellency of Brandon Sproat, the Mets came in the eighth for 2-0.

But after seven well -played innings, the Mets unraveled.

First a crime: with Tyler Rogers on the hill, Josh Smith waved a 1-2 pitch and made contact with Francisco Alvarez’s glove for the interference of a catcher. Wyatt Langford then doubled the third Hunklijn to put the draw in second place.

After a sacrifice fly and strikeout, Edwin DĂaz came in and had to record a to escape – but it was the wild version of DĂaz. After a wild throw he walked Josh Jung. Rowdy Tellez then crashed a basic rule double along the right field line to bind the game to 2-2.

After a scoreless bottom of the eighth, DĂaz returned for the ninth and a few singles allowed. The second, a pile to the right-hand center of Langford, scored the Go-Ahead Run to complete the dagger of a comeback.

The Mets had a chance on the bottom of the ninth, Soto stuck a one-out single in the middle and Pinch-Hitter Ronny Mauricio who crashed a two-out single to the right to bring Soto 90 foot away from home. But Brandon Nimmo eliminated to conquer a loss of a series.

In fact, the Mets had many chances in an afternoon that they left 12 on the base and went 1-out-10 with runners in score position, no more frustrating for the fans than the Pinch-hit strikeout of Cedric Mullins with two out and the scored tied in the eighth inning.

But there were many missed opportunities that went to the struggling deadline addiction. They loaded the bases with two out in the first inning only for Starling Marte to stare at a perfectly placed strike 3. In the fourth, Marte reached the third with two before Jose Siri was eradicated on a field that seemed a few centimeters above the stroke zone.

They put runners on the first and second without having to put out in the sixth, but Brett Baty was unpacked in second when he tried to clamber back and jumped to the base and hit Smith’s final gloves along the way.

In his Citi Field debut and second career start, Sprat was excellent for six scoreless innings in which he spread six hits, no walked and three switched.

Trust in the heat and a range of breaking pitches – in particular a sweeping machine that attracted four whiffs – crossed Sproat during an outing in which he received a lot of help.

Sprat encountered two-on problems in the third and led to a ground ball in the middle of Langford. Sproat maneuvered out of the way of the ball and walked on his chest on the hill, where he lifted his right hand in triumph because Jeff McNeil took the ball and started a doubles.

His next inning ended because Mark Vientos made a remarkable dive branch to his left side and got up to throw Jung away.

Sproat spent a one-out double at Jonah Heim in the fifth, but two groundouts helped him to survive undamaged.

Two more achieved during a sixth inning that contained a lot of hard contact, but Sproat escaped when he got Jung to go to Lindor and leave the game after just 70 throws.
