ESPN’s Jeff Passan reports this that the Mets have acquired pitcher Freddy Peralta from the Brewers. Pitching prospect Brandon Sproat and minor league infielder/centerfielder Jett Williams are headed to Milwaukee. Joel Sherman of the New York Post added that pitcher Tobias Myers is also going to New York.
Peralta has developed into a modern-day workhorse, making at least 30 starts in each of the past three seasons, while his 516 innings since early 2013 are the most significant. 15th most in the majors. He posted an excellent 2.70 ERA and a 1.075 WHIP over his 176.2 innings in 2025, striking out 204 batters with 66 walks.

The 27-year-old Myers spent time in the rotation and bullpen in 2025 after making 25 of his 27 appearances as a rookie last year. He posted a 3.55 ERA and a 1.362 WHIP over his 50.2 innings, striking out 38 batters with 15 walks. Myers started six of his 22 appearances in 2025, giving the Mets a solid back-of-the-rotation starter or long relief option in the bullpen.

Completing his arsenal is a mid-70s curve that gives hitters a different look. He was a consensus top-100 starter ahead of the 2025 season. He posted a 4.24 ERA and a 1.240 WHIP over 121 innings in Triple-A, striking out 113 batters with 53 walks. Sproat made his Major League debut in September, allowing 11 runs on 18 hits and seven walks in 20.2 innings while striking out 17 batters.
Jett, the Mets’ third-best prospectconsidered a solid all-around player with plus speed. At 6-foot-1, he has a smaller strike zone and draws a lot of walks, but he can also generate surprising power for his size. A consensus top-100 prospect in 2024 and 2025, Williams rebounded from an injury-plagued 2024 season to post a .261/.363/.465 batting line in 572 plate appearances between Double-A and Triple-A, hitting 17 home runs and 34 doubles while stealing 34 bases. Williams has spent time at second, short and center, potentially giving the Brewers multiple options for what could be a dynamic top player.
The Mets have had an impressive past few days, adding infielder Bo Bichette in free agency while filling their void in center with Luis Robert Jr. to acquire. The addition of Peralta and Myers continues a strong offseason as the Mets look to return to the playoffs.
