Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) and DC Handal have expanded the latter’s already numerous charging facilities in Bamboo Hills with the unveiling of Hap Seng Star branded chargers, joining the already existing Auto Bavaria branded stations at the gastronomic hub along the Duta-Ulu Klang Expressway (DUKE).

The two chargers, which feature a rear with a striking three-pointed star motif, appear to include the existing 22kW Autel AC charger and a second one next to it, bringing the total number of DC Handal charging points at the site to ten. The cost of using the chargers is not yet known, but should remain at the current rate of 90 sen per kWh. As usual at DC Handal, payment can be made via the physical credit card terminal or via the JomCharge, ChargeEV and Gentari Go apps.

According to MBM, the Bamboo Hills station is the sixth branded location in Malaysia, which already includes JomCharge, ChargEV and Gentari facilities in several luxury hotels and golf courses. There is also a driving van with the Mercedes logo, operated by Power Up Tech. President and CEO Amanda Zhang said the move was in line with Stuttgart’s Ambition 2039 strategy for net carbon neutrality.

Zamri bin Mahmud, Managing Director of DC Handal, added: “Our partnership with Mercedes-Benz Malaysia at Bamboo Hills marks a significant step forward in delivering reliable, high-performance charging infrastructure that meets the expectations of premium EV drivers. By combining our technical expertise with Mercedes-Benz’s vision of sustainable luxury mobility, we ensure that EV charging is not only is fast and reliable, but also seamlessly integrated into the places where people live, work and play.”

Looking ahead, MBM plans to expand its co-branded charging network to more ‘lifestyle destinations’ across the country by the end of 2025, as part of its ‘multi-channel’ charging strategy to support its customers wherever they want to charge.
