Medina Country Club breaks ground on the whole new clubhouse

Medina Country Club, one of the most important private golf clubs in Noordoost-Ohio, breaks ground on a completely new clubhouse facility, where construction officially starts with the week of 8 September. Ownership and members celebrated the opportunity with a groundbreaking ceremony on 15 August, with general director Kirby Manown and club owner and President Bill Cosgrove provided comments and the plans for the new clubhouse facility ran.

“This is a great day, not only for our club, but also for our community, and has been in the making for a long time,” says Kirby Mannown, general manager of Medina Country Club. “Every detail, up to the light switches, is carefully thought out and we are very enthusiastic. The future is rosy.”

Plans for the feature of the clubhouse include men’s and ladies changing rooms and saunas, an attached Pro-shop, a pubbar / restaurant space and a capacity of 225 people ballroom / event center that will also be available to the public when they are not used by club members.

“The building that we have set up will represent Medina County – it will represent the community,” says Bill Cosgrove, owner and president of Medina Country Club. “I am so happy about the future of the club and proud of the updates we have already made so far. We hope to make this club a destination of world class for families in the area to be proud of.”

The swimming pool of Medina Country Club also gets a facelift in this phase of renovations. In this project, the addition of water park functions for children, as well as an area for adults alone, is all flanked by stylish Cabanas. The swimming pool will also increase in size and swimming tracks – with the ultimate goal of creating a club swimming team. “Having a swimming team will add culture to the club and create many memories for families, what we are looking,” said Cosgrove.

The renovation of the clubhouse is the newest in a series of upgrades since Bill Cosgrove came into possession of the club in 2022. This fall, the club will officially open its reversible nine-hole course for handicappers and beginners, making it one of the few reversible courses in the United States.

The Union Performance Center, which was opened in May 2024, is the home of the Jim Wise Golf Academy and has a crowned junior golf program in addition to classes and clinics for all ages and skills levels. Also included in the facility are a Chipping and PUT Lab, golf simulators, puttview analyzers, a fitness center and a full-service lounge. Within the performance center, members also have access to the 1,700 square feet Palmer Room, which functions as a kitchen, bar and event room.
