Maya Joint reflects on breakthrough season and goals for 2026

Maya Joint is certainly one of the surprises of this season.

This season, the 19-year-old tennis star made a serious breakthrough and showed that she really belongs at the top of the WTA rankings.

Before the start of this season, she set goals together, but in a conversation with the media she revealed that she far exceeded her expectations.

Her career high is ranking 32nd in the world, with 11 notable wins, but the young tennis player won’t stop there.

She played in the main draw of all Grand Slam tournaments and won no fewer than two WTA 250 singles titles. However, this is the time of year when you need to clearly define your goals for 2026.

“I definitely didn’t expect to finish so high in the rankings. It’s definitely a pleasant surprise. Just the way my season went, I played really good tennis and consistently achieved good results on all surfaces.”

Back in 2023, Maya Joint moved from Detroit, Michigan to Brisbane, Australia.

It is important to note that her father is Australian.

Joint had no problems adapting, she said she was very well received and felt at home.

“It’s interesting because it feels like I just got here,” Joint said.

“I’ve had such a great team around me, and Tennis Australia really embraced me, all the girls, all the fans, they really made me feel at home. I just felt like I belonged.”

Goals

As for the next season, the young tennis player’s main goals are to win the WTA 500 tournament, reach the 4th round of the WTA 1000 and the 3rd round of the Grand Slam.

Judging by her quality and potential, most expect her to have no trouble achieving what she set out to do.

The 2026 season is a chance for the 19-year-old tennis star to surprise fans again and show how great she is.
