Max Holloway’s victory over UFC 318 on Dustin Poirier seems to be his only fight from 2025.

“Blessed” spoiled Poirier’s retirement and retained the BMF title with a unanimous decision victory in the main event of the recent pay-per-view event of the promotion. With the victory, the fantasy -matchmakers have thrown away a whole series of fun ideas for the next matchup of Holloway, but according to the former featherweight title holder, his next fight will probably not have been sustained in the fight because of a hand injury.

“I see a lot of people talking about who the next is, who this is, there are many nice fights for me [lightweight]Said Holloway on his Youtube Channel. “There is [Charles Oliveira]when [Justin Gaethje] Gets the next title shot, that would be cool. If I get the next title shot, it would be sick, but if you hope I fight before the end of the year, then probably won’t happen.

‘I see a specialist ever [soon]I have already met my doctor, now I have to meet the specialist, but things are not looking for me again this year. So all that fighting talk is still on, so we just see how the [lightweight division] Will come out. “

Prior to his victory over Poirier, Holloway was stopped for the first time in his career through strikes by the now lightweight champion Ilia Topuria on UFC 308 last October. Topuria left the strip of 145 pounds after stopping Holloway and then broke Charles Oliveira brutally into the main event of UFC 317 in June to catch his second title.

The next opponent of Topuria has not been announced. The names that seem to be in the game under the fan base for “El Matador” are Arman Tsarukyan, Paddy Pimblett and Justin Gaethje.

Holloway wonders why more people do not put his name in the conversation, especially with the name Van Gaethje in the mix, which Holloway has eliminated on cruel fashion on UFC 300.

“I will be a bit a fan,” Holloway explained. ‘[I get to] Be a father. … I am enthusiastic about the future, but what is the next? I couldn’t tell you. Now this stupid injury pushed me back a bit, so we don’t know what will happen.

“But even if I didn’t have this injury, the conversations are wild. At the end of the day [fans are saying]… Many people say that I and Ilia are not logical because my last fight was for this ilia, and he did what he did to me, right? But how do you argue for someone I fought – I know he hadn’t fought against Ilia, but I fought him – I have done what I did to him, and he will fight next to the title after winning a [fight]. Because most of you don’t know what you’re talking about. Most of you don’t know about fighting. “
