Matt Brown doubts UFC White House will live up to hype, confident Conor McGregor won’t be part of it: “They don’t have the stars”

UFC veteran Matt Brown doesn’t believe the UFC White House Card will be the best card ever as promised.

In a recent one interview with MMA Fighting“The Immortal” doubled down on why he thinks Dana White, Hunter Campbell and the team will fail to pull off the biggest UFC event ever.

Brown started off by saying that he was convinced that the UFC no longer has the stars it used to have, and that is why the June 14 card will be a disaster. The 45-year-old also stated that he is confident that Conor McGregor will not be a part of this event, and that the UFC is just using his name to promote the card and create more hype. He said:

“They don’t have the stars they used to have, and Conor ain’t fighting for it. I don’t care what anyone says. I don’t care what he says. I don’t care what Dana says. They’re using him to promote it and using his name to get it out… He ain’t fighting for that shit, man, and even if that’s signed and a done deal, I won’t believe it until he’s in the octagon and a blow is given. Even during the strike, I will think something is going to happen here. When a punch is thrown, I say, “Okay, I think he’s fighting.”

According to reports, the UFC White House card will feature a total of 6-7 fights, and Brown thinks it’s risky to have such a limited number of fights for a historic fight night:

“I think it’s a risk to only do 6-7 fights because you know the sport. You can very easily get 6-7 boring fights. I can’t think of any 6-7 fights that are that huge.”

Then, “The Immortal” stated that he wants to see a super fight between Jon Jones and Alex Pereira on the South Lawn of the White House, but believes the fight won’t last long because “Bones” will beat “Poatan” and finish him in a few minutes. He added:

“Unless you main event Jones and Pereira, which even then it’s going to be a close fight? Isn’t Jones going to take him down and finish him in a minute or two? Jones isn’t going to get to his feet.”

Matt Brown also weighed in on the shortage of US champions:

“I think the even bigger problem is that they can fight some pretty important, good fights, but what about the Americans? That’s in the White House. That’s the problem, they have so few American soldiers.” [stars]. That’s a problem. Unless they just go ahead and say, you know what? F*ck, whether it’s American or not, we’re just making it international, and that’s what I think you almost have to do, and the UFC is an international sport. I don’t know how much they will care about that or not. Maybe they’re just making the biggest fights they can. [h/t: MMA Fighting]

According to Merab Dvalishvili, Russian fighters will not be part of the UFC White House card, but due to a lack of American champions, Brown wants Islam Makhachev to be part of this event, and Makhachev is game if the UFC allows it.

Matt Brown Thinks Justin Gaethje vs. Ilia Topuria will be the Main Event UFC White House Card

A title fight between Ilia Topuria and Justin Gaethje is expected to take place on June 14. Both fighters have expressed interest in locking horns on that specific date, and Matt Brown believes this fight will inevitably happen and could even serve as the main event of the UFC White House. He added:

“Ilia, you know he’s going to fight Gaethje with that card [ UFC White House ] Certainly. I think that’s pretty much a done deal. That will probably be your main event.
