Maserati marks a championship year and lays the foundation for 2026 and beyond

Maserati Corse concluded the 2025 campaign with results that underline how quickly the brand has re-established itself as a serious force in modern GT racing. After not returning to closed-wheel competition until 2023, the House of the Trident added a new title to its record books. Driving the Maserati GT2 for LP Racing, Philippe Prette secured the Am Class championship in the GT2 European Series powered by Pirelli, repeating his success from 2024. He sealed the title by winning 10 of the 12 races on the calendar. On November 22, Prette accepted the trophy at the SRO Motorsports Group Awards in Venice.

Earlier this year we reported about this program. In February, a first drive of the Maserati GT2 Stradale showed how closely the road-legal derivative follows the race car’s DNA, designed with a clear intent on the track but calibrated for limited road use.

That progress is directly reflected in the next phase of Maserati. In 2026, the Italian brand will again participate in the GT2 European Series, with the season opening in Monza on May 30 and 31. More importantly, Maserati is participating in the SRO GT Academy project announced at the most recent 24 Hours of Spa. The initiative introduces a new Silver class, with the winner receiving the Academy title. From 2027, a Maserati or another manufacturer will commit to a full season in the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup, competing in Silver or Pro Am.

The Maserati GT2 is now eligible for more than 20 series, with more than 170 races spread over more than 100 race weekends per year. That expansion accelerated in 2025 with the launch of the Endurance Pack, expanding where and how the car can be deployed in sprint and endurance formats.

The United States will become a bigger part of that strategy in 2026. In October, Maserati brought the GT2 to the US for the first time at GT America in Indianapolis, combining its competitive debut with a broader paddock presence including the GT2 Stradale and the track-only MCXtrema. For the first time, the International GT series welcomes both the Maserati GT2 and the MCXtrema in the GTX category. The season opens from February 26 to March 1 at Sebring, followed by Road Atlanta, Lime Rock, Mid-Ohio, Road America, Watkins Glen, VIR, Laguna Seca, Barber and Circuit of the Americas, which closes from November 5 to 8.

All this is unfolding as Maserati approaches a symbolic milestone. 2026 marks the hundredth anniversary of the brand’s racing debut, when the Tipo 26 won its class at the Targa Florio. Maserati is a brand that is clearly on the right track, strengthening its position with results, reach and a steadily growing global presence in GT racing.
