For the second night in a row, the Reds and Pirates played a low score, close to the end. This time, however, it was the bullpen of Cincinnati who was correct when the Reds won a victory in Pittsburgh on Saturday evening.

Both teams would get a baserunner in each of the first two innings, but fail to bring that runner around the bases. Cincinnati would get two men with one out after a hit and a single, but they would again fail to produce a run.
Pittsburgh received a lead -off Double on a ball that should have been caught easily, but the full lack of experience in the outfield by Noelvi Marte in a wrong lecture led Jared Triolo to pick up two bases. He went to third place on a single and then scored on a sacrificial battle by Tommy Pham to put the pirates 1-0.
In the first half of the 4th inning, Marte did his best to try to make up for that mistake when he held a 2-out double in the left field corner. Spencer Steer, who had previously excited in the inning, came to score from the first base to bind the game.
Nick Martinez rode through the 4th, 5th and 6th innings. His attack rewarded him in the 7th when Noelvi Marte left with a two-square stroke, third was out on a ground and then scored on a sacrificial fly by TJ Friedl to set up Cincinnati 2-1. Martinez took the hill for the bottom of the inning and gave an Infield single, but immediately came back to get another grounder and it turned into a doubles to erase the runner. A third grounder to ShortStop ended the inning when he went into a strong 7-aftering performance.
Tony Santillan worked around a walk in the 8th to keep the Reds in the front through a point. After Noelvi Marte was stranded in second place after his third double of the night in the first 9th, Emilio Pagan took over the hill for Cincinnati to try to seal the victory. He ran Histeil Cruz to start the inning before he got a fly outside. Nick Gonzalez then struck a lining to Shortstop where Elly de la Cruz caught it and returned to fire a 91 MPH bullet over the Infield to double Cruz at first base to end the game.
Important moment of the game
TJ Friedl continues with a sacrificial fly against a Lefty specialist in the 7th inning to lead the Reds.
Notes worth mentioning
Nick Martinez put together an excellent start when he moved to 10-9 in the season and lowered his ERA to 4.49. This season he faces Pittsburgh in PNC Park twice and has only allowed two points in 13.0 innings.
Noelvi Marte was 2-18 in August for the 3-Double match on Saturday evening. He had his impact on this while the Lone Pirates -Run scored because of his wrong reading on a flight ball in the 3rd inning, but he also scored one of the Reds runs and drove in the other.
Not -related, but Tejay Antone announced that he would go on his way to a Minor League rehabilitation assignment while giving his way back from a third operation by Tommy John. We have written a little more about it earlier on Saturday evening if you want more details.
