The New England Revolution has found their new head coach.

Marko Mitrovic has been appointed to the role, the Eastern Conference club announced on Friday. Mitrovic brings more than 15 years of coaching experience to his new role in MLS.

“We are very excited to welcome Marko Mitrović as head coach of the New England Revolution,” said sporting director Curt Onalfo. “Throughout the interview process, Marko’s tactical acumen and modern coaching philosophies set him apart. It is abundantly clear that he shares our ambitions to challenge for trophies in 2026 and beyond. His extensive coaching experience at both club and international level, including on some of the world’s biggest stages, has prepared him well for this crucial role.”

The 47-year-old Mitrovic arrives in New England after coaching at the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile. He led the Americans to advancement from the group stage, as well as a round of 16 victory over Italy.

Before becoming head coach of the USMNT U-20, Mitrovic served in the same role with the Under-23s in 2023. He led the program to the quarterfinals of the 2024 Olympic Games in France. Mitrovic also served as head coach of the USMNT U-19 from 2022 to 2023.

This will mark Mitrovic’s second MLS stint, having previously served as an assistant coach for the Chicago Fire from 2016-19. From 2020 to 2022 he also worked with the then English Championship Reading.

New England failed to make the MLS Cup Playoffs in 2025, missing the final playoff spot by 17 points.
