Marco Silva says that he ‘cannot understand’ how Fulham did not get two penalties when they fell to beat Aston Villa in the Premier League on Sunday.

Raul Jimenez opened the score when he went in from a corner, but the Mexican striker may have wounded himself in the trial because he was replaced by Adama Traore after just ten minutes.

Claims for a penalty were left by referee Andy Madley after Josh King had entered the box. Instead, the teenager was booked for simulation for the second weekend in a row.

There were more screams for a penalty when King had blocked a shot by the idiosyncratic arm of Matty Cash, but they too were ignored.

The game turned upside down when Ollie Watkins ended his nine-game goal drought before rest and Bernd Leno hit for his first goal since May. John McGinn and EMI Buendia both found the net in the second half to complete the comeback.

Silva congratulated Villa with the victory while he admits Fulham “to blame ourselves more” for the end result, before he focuses on the competition officials and VAR for the many decisions that went to his side this season.

“I have looked at the moments now and for me, they are incredible,” he told Sky Sports. “I respect and they will try to explain it, but we can’t understand.

“Again this afternoon we don’t need anyone to train Josh King. Josh King has already rejected two yellow cards in the Premier League and they have rejected a goal from him. It is very difficult for me to say that (Emi) Martinez is not a fine. If a player is taken away in the box, it is a penalty club. Try not to Take a penalty club.

“I want to question them (the officials). I would like them to explain how it was (the arm of cash) in a normal body position. And if it was good then, but I want to ask for Ryan Sessegnon against Chelsea, what it was explained how a penalty was.

“It has been very difficult for us and I started the conversations about what we can control. The other things in six games are too much for Fulham Football Club and we can’t have a control.”
