Marco Silva says Fulham’s ‘superiority’ over Spurs is clear

Fulham boss Marco Silva has said his side’s ‘superiority’ over Tottenham Hotspur was evident after a 2-1 win at Craven Cottage.

Goals from Harry Wilson and Alex Iwobi gave Fulham three points at Craven Cottage, a win that moves the west Londoners up to ninth in the table.

It was a deserved victory for Fulham, who took a two-goal lead inside the opening 34 minutes and rarely looked like giving up that lead.

Wilson opened the scoring after seven minutes, with Spurs dissatisfied with the opener. Spurs believed the goal should have been disallowed due to Raul Jimenez’s push on Radu Dragusin, after a similar attempt was ruled out against Arsenal last week. VAR allowed the goal to stand and Fulham built on that luck with a second when Iwobi volleyed home.

Richarlison did pull a goal back for struggling Spurs, but Igor Tudor’s visitors were unable to get back into the match. The victory for Fulham keeps the club’s hopes of European football alive next season.

Speaking full-time to Sky Sports, Silva said his team fully deserved their success: “It was a game for us to win in a different way when it comes to scoring goals. The superiority was clear from the first half to the last moments of the game. So many chances, we were clinical in the first half, in the second half we created a lot of chances.”

“If you don’t end the game with a third goal, it’s always open if they score one goal, and they did that. But I have to be happy. Creating chances like we did today shows quality. Creating chances inside the penalty area was of the highest level for us.”

“We did well defensively, we should have done better with the goal, but congratulations to the players. We deserved the three points, but we have to move on.”
