Marco Silva Newcastle United’s press conference has taken place.
The Fulham boss will speak on Monday afternoon.
Marco Silva and his Fulham team come to St James’ Park on Wednesday evening, with kick-off at 8.15pm.
The prize is a place in the last four of the Carabao Cup.
It would be a third semi-final in four seasons in the competition for Eddie Howe and Newcastle United.
While it would be two Carabao Cup semi-finals in three years for Marco Silva and Fulham, they were unlucky to lose 3-2 on aggregate to Liverpool in the 2023/2024 season.
As for trying to get past Newcastle United in this quarter-final, Marco Silva admits; “We are playing against a strong team.”
The Fulham boss believes recent matches have been competitive between Newcastle United and the west London club, although Newcastle United have won seven of their last night matches against Fulham, home and away, including the Premier League match at St James’ Park in late October.
Marco Silva admits St James’ Park is; “Probably one of the toughest places to play in this country…”
However, the visiting manager also sees the other side of the coin; “…but at the same time, [St James’ Park is] probably one of the best places in this country to play football and enjoy a football match.”
As for which team will triumph on Wednesday night, Marco Silva says; ‘We have to go [to St James’ Park] full of ambition that the semi-finals are for one team, and let’s hope that can be us.”
When it comes to achieving success for Fulham, Marco Silva holds his hands up and points out where he realistically sees his team potentially securing silverware; “Nothing is impossible in football, but we have to be realistic… and the best way to achieve something is the cups. We have tried to create this mentality within the club.”
Fulham have never won a major trophy in the club’s entire history and Marco Silva dreams of becoming the first Fulham manager to lead them there; “Such a historic club, which has no title (major trophy). If you can achieve that, you can imagine how the fans will feel, how we can really make a statement in this football club.”
